My 6870 wouldn't go above 8xaa and someone suggested updating the bios so.. I used these bios, and i used atiwinflash. I think i made a back up of the original (i pressed the save button in winflash) Now the card won't boot and this is what i have tried so far: I put in another pcie 2.0 graphics card and tried to boot from that I put in a plain pci card in there and tried to boot with that (both of these cards were nvidia if that makes a difference) It still wont boot if the 6870 is plugged in, I tried running it without the 2 6-pin connectors in and it would boot but winflash would not detect it so now i'm running on my backup gtx 275 what do
Does the fan speed up? And: Re-aply the drivers. [editline]16th October 2011[/editline] If the bios flash went wrong you probably have a problem though. Try and re do it.

If you bricked the GPU then you're stuffed Unless you have a PCI VGA card around and flash the stock one back on
The worst case scenario would be you buying a Willem programmer and reprogram the BIOS chips by soldering 4 wires.
You can boot with 2 cards while 1 is misflashed, you just have to set priority to boot the good one. I did that once (though both were ATI cards) and it worked fine.
Maybe the card was bad and the flash killed it. Or the more probable occurrence is that the flashing went wrong.
This is showing the telltale signs of a bad flash.
Use your second gpu or an onboard one (if you have one) to redo the flash.
Ummm you can only flash the 69xx series
