DRM-ception. You need a DRM program inside a DRM program.
Well that was obvious, the newest AC games did the same thing and I think Splinter Cell: Blacklist did too.
And Farcry 3 and Blood Dragon, yeah nothing new
Yeah, maybe a lot of other games require the same service to run, but that does in no way justify it.
And Farcry 3 and Blood Dragon, yeah nothing new
It was still annoying then too
I shouldn't have to login to another program ontop of the program I already downloaded the game on
This isn't news. Driver San Fran and most Assassins Creed games have it. The only things UPlay has going for it are the little game bonuses it has.
I know a lot of Ubisoft games use it but South Park and Rayman don't.
Ubisoft is really looking at ways to not makes sales, aren't they?
Look at all the people in the comment section saying they won't buy now.
A season pass, plus DLC out of the door. No videos of actual PC gameplay, so we don't even know what it looks like. Could look like the PS4 versions, which looks horrible.
I'm going to have to pass on this.
Thanks Ubisoft, you made me save $60.
Defenitely won't buy now, haven't bought a Ubisoft game since the newest Anno.
Still not available on steam in the UK. But I don't think that matters anymore. :v:
Tis really not that intrusive :v: so dramatic

I tried to play Splinter Cell: Conviction with a friend the other day, besides the game being awful the drm made everything, including just starting up the fucking game difficult.

I would love to agree with this, but I have to ask. How so?
I know a lot of Ubisoft games use it but South Park and Rayman don't.
Rayman does use uPlay. This isn't a surprise at all, almost every Ubisoft game for the last 2 years has required uPlay.
I tried to play Splinter Cell: Conviction with a friend the other day, besides the game being awful the drm made everything, including just starting up the fucking game difficult.
Dunno what weird specific issues you're having but Conviction was perfectly fine when I played it on PC, and that was even when Ubisoft was doing the "You cannot play these games offline under any circumstances" thing.
... The only things UPlay has going for it are the little game bonuses it has.
I like those little bonuses. Sometimes they're actually pretty neat, like in ANNO 2070, the first bonus is an additional transport per supply depot to help gather various goods.
so is anyone actually surprised??
i for one am not, i'm totally cool with doing uplay through steam, since the overlay works fine unlike some drm platforms (cough cough origin)
Probably just gonna get the game on PS4 instead.
at least it doesn't require origin as well as uplay as well as steam
seriously this is dumb as fuck
what more proof is needed than having it on steam? Do you WANT people to pirate it?

The difference is EA games on steam don't require Origin, thus they don't need to make the overlay compatible with Steam's one.
this just doesn't make any fucking sense. why double down? fucking idiotic.
And will this make the game harder to pirate?
Nope, there will most likely be a crack up within the first 1-2 days.
Why the hell does it matter? I imagine it's going to be like Far Cry 3 where launching it on steam launches uPlay which launches the actual game. And then it all closes again once the game is closed. At least uPlay isn't intrusive and a client you have to leave open all the time. I think you guys are really making a mountain out of a molehill.
DRM-ception. You need a DRM program inside a DRM program.
To fight the DRM Program ingame?
I dunno you guys but holy crap Uplay gives lot of shit to me when I tried to play Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. First it wouldn't start it so I had to find fixes for that, Offline mode didn't work, forgot the god damned password... Ugh I hate Uplay, as if Steam wasn't enough.
Not to mention 30mins of figuring out why I couldn't play Splinter Cell Conviction in co-op.
Don't see the problem with uplay, it requires minimal effort to play ubisoft games with for me
oh no my gaming pc has to launch an extra program aah whatever will i do so angry
fucking you guys will complain about anything
People who use DRM inside of DRM are fucking cunts.
Looking RIGHT at you ubisoft. Seriously, stop fucking shoehorning this shit into each one of your titles. We get it, you have your own digital distribution platform. Doesn't mean you should be shoving the shit down our throats.

Minimalism is key. One should NEVER have to launch even ONE program or load ONE additional library more than is absolutely needed. Waste should be frowned HEAVILY on, in the triple-A title industry of video games.
