Well, I come home from school one day and turn on my computer for my gaming session. Next thing you know my computer turns off on me. I did everything to figure out what has happened and I narrowed it down to the 4pin ATX12v connection. While that is connected my computer will not turn on, but if it is not connected it will turn on but nothing appears on my screen. Has my CPU died? You're plugging it in while it's running? That's probably not a good idea... Did you try resetting the CMOS?
It looked like your CPU fan was loose when you pulled the ATX 12V connector off, as if that's the case your CPU prolly overheated right away after getting power. But seriously don't play with power connectors while your computer is turned on, that might fuck up something even more. Also there might be some shortcircuit somewhere that uses the ATX12V power connector and that causes powersupply to turn itself off because of short circuit protection.
Well if you have another PSU, try it. This time, don't plug in cables while it's running :argh:
Just because part of the PSU works doesn't mean the whole thing does.
@Shadez - I have tried resetting the CMOS, no luck. @Tiger - It was loose because I haven't posted this thread up even after my PC has been dead for about half a year now. @beaver - I have tried another PSU and it still didn't work. Before I posted this thread I have tested my CPU on my dads PC. It turned on and everything but as soon as the loading bar for XP shows up it turns off. And my PC was only on for 10 seconds but when I checked on the CPU it was as hot as if it were on for half an hour.
