• GTX 295 on a low res. monitor

I plan on getting a GTX 295 for my current build: Core 2 Duo E7300 OC to 3Ghz 2Gb generic RAM 9800GT 700W PSU I'll also be getting a Q8400 I have a 19" monitor that runs 1440x900. I quite sure that this is overkill, but I wanna future proof it. I've read that running such a powerful card on such a low resolution actually decreases performance. Is this true? It doesn't make much sense to me but I want to be sure...
When did 1440x900 become a 'small' resolution?
I have the 295GTX on 1920x1080 and I have yet to find a game I can't run at full settings with atleast 20 fps (yes even crysis runs). So yes it is pretty god damn overkill.
When did 1440x900 become a 'small' resolution?
Compared to 1680x1050, 1920x1080 and 2560x1600, it's a below average resolution, at least.
Snip
I find those resolutions very rare. I'm stuck on a 14" CRT monitor at 1024x768 :crying:

Consider the fact that most computers bought from stores, which makes up majority of computers in the world, come with 1280x1024 monitors, as people who don't game or watch movies on their computer don't really get picky about that stuff. Below average in terms of a gaming PC?
Well I would say a gamer has a higher resolution monitor than the majority of users, But I would say 1440x900 is not a small resolution, granted it is also not a very large one.
Just stick with the 9800gt. Or perhaps get a 5850 if you want something kickass. That's also pretty overkill though. *Also the gtx 295 is not worth to buy today, if you can't find is cheap second hand that is.
Listen to this man.
1024x768 and below is where you would see lower performance. 1440x900 isnt small by any means, its greater than 720p (1368x720) and its what i use.
Don't get a gtx 295 just get a 5870.

1440x900 is not a small resolution lol
*GTX 295 not 295GTX. I may sound fussy but it's like calling the core i7 the 7i core.
yes yes, I know this I just forgot it yesterday or whenever I typed it out, I usually call it the GTX 295.
1440x900 is a small res, it got less pixels than 1280x1024. And almost everyone can do 1280x1024 and i dont give a shit about tv res since only 1080p is good.
1280x1024=1 310 720 pixels 1440x900=1 296 000 pixels EDIT: Lol, bad reading, but a guess I'm supporting you.
get a 5770 for that res or a 4890 hell GTX295 is over kill to the max
Get a GTX295. Futureproofing always works.
Futureproofing always works.
hahaha oh man
GTX 295 is getting outdated, and we all know it.
Get a GTX295. Futureproofing always works.
Then he should get a 5890
GTX 295 is getting outdated, and we all know it.
Not outdated. Just inferior price wise. The 5870 is better and cheaper. For that kinda money I would get a 5870, or throw some 5850s into CrossFire.
5970 if you want to future proof. But a 3650 and a 4890x2 will stop being able to run games at about the same time, due to directx.
We need banwords back and have "future proof" as one of them.
Along with "I don't want to use Intel" and "I don't want to use AMD"
Don't get a Q8___ GTX 295 is not worth it, you could get a 5870, AND a new monitor, that dual core is fine.
Along with "I don't want to use Intel" and "I don't want to use AMD"
along with "woodscrews" which is the least funny meme for a long time
then he should get a 5890
5970*
