I got the skirmish pack for free, they gave it away when it was released. I'm fairly sure you can enter the PVP area at level 6 without being a paying civilization, but I don't know for sure. Either way, I was fine paying a few bucks for the game. It's been fun with some friends, and I love the greek civilization's campaign despite a few teeth grinding frustration levels
