I once spent a whole day looking for a server that was actually fun.
Jesus Christ late much? SAMP was the first to have on foot gameplay like 5 years ago and MTA just got it like a year or two back. Now that GTA IV and V are coming out. It's like JBMod going against Garrys Mod as of now, what would you rather play? :v:

Except MTA kept improving, while SA:MP stayed the same. MTA is definitely the better of the two currently, especially in terms of synchronization.

CIT (the largest MTA server by far) is the only really fun server I've found. (It's also the one the screenshots are from)
I could argue that samp's laggy sync creates some pretty interesting gameplay :v:
Lag aiming makes things kinda interesting in the end, though it limits the amount of actually useful weapons because weapons that let you move around rapidly are always a better choice than the ones that require you to walk around slowly while aiming even though they usually have better firepower.

The 1st MTASA "Developer Preview" (on foot gameplay as well as vehicles) showed up in 2006. GTA 4 has been out for 3 years.

Too bad IV's MP is full of cheaters and default gamemodes get boring fast.
The most interesting free roam multiplayer game i would want to see is Just Cause 2 with co op/Multiplayer
