The OP is a spam-bot. Just ignore this thread and wait for the lock.
Yeah because any thread mentioning a program they like is instantly the works of a spam bot. Not to mention this spam bot somehow managed to make over 250 posts without getting banned. :downs:
If you only need to work with video formats, I like Handbrake. Get the nightly build, it currently works much better than the stable release for some reason.
I use SUPER, but their website is really fucking hard to navigate.
If you only need to work with video formats, I like Handbrake. Get the nightly build (3474 on the Windows GUI version), it currently works much better than the stable release.
When I tried Handbrake, there wasn't any option to output to AVI. Also, how come almost every media converting websites have really ugly/confusing websites and interfaces?
I use Nero Vision and Nero Recode for all my encoding needs. Oh, and BD Rebuilder for Blu-ray work.

I was having some problems with the latest stable build. I like Handbrake better than SUPER.
Wow OP, it seems that you went out of your way to make your post look exactly like something a spambot would post. Anyway, i use MediaCoder for my needs.
I used this to convert a 5GB AVI file at 1980x1620 into a 300MB MP4 at 560x420, so that it would fit on my iPhone. THAT is why I love FormatFactory.
When I tried Handbrake, there wasn't any option to output to AVI.
There's no reason to use AVI anymore. The Handbrake devs justified their omission:
AVI: AVI is a rough beast. It is obsolete. It does not support modern container features like chapters, muxed-in subtitles, variable framerate video, or out of order frame display. Furthermore, HandBrake's AVI muxer is vanilla AVI 1.0 that doesn't even support large files. The code has not been actively maintained since 2005. Keeping it in the library while implementing new features means a very convoluted data pipeline, full of conditionals that make the code more difficult to read and maintain, and make output harder to predict. As such, it is now gone. It is not coming back, and good riddance.
Use an MKV container like the cool kids.
I hate MKV, only because my PS3 can't play them, and it's my main movie machine. I have to convert them to m2ts before I can watch them, but at least mkv2vob is fast and doesn't hurt quality.

And there's always PS3 Media Server that'll convert and stream on the fly.
Always used SUPER, and more recently MeGUI. Time to finally get around to checking out Handbrake. [editline]09:16PM[/editline] Dammit, Handbrake is exactly what I've been looking for where have you been all my life
why isn't it website based instead so you just upload the music file then like it convert itself and you just download it again.
Dammit, Handbrake is exactly what I've been looking for where have you been all my life
I don't know why the nightly builds are still considered nightly builds, I've never had a single issue. They should just release it already. :v: [editline]01:06PM[/editline] Oh, and if the GUI version is giving you an error on launch go back to that page, get the CLI version, and copy HandbrakeCLI.exe into the root directory (overwriting the old one).
why isn't it website based instead so you just upload the music file then like it convert itself and you just download it again.
Ok let me first upload the 4gb avi file I have and then download another 500mb for the mp4 file
why isn't it website based instead so you just upload the music file then like it convert itself and you just download it again.
Website based encoding services are horribly inefficient. That's why.
