Maybe if your sequel had ANY relevance to DA:O this wouldn't be a big problem.
Why not just go down the Mass Effect route and do nothing with them or just kill off the characters.
So about that certain child
that's a really big loose end

Confirmed Dragon Age takes place 50,000 years before Mass Effect.

What if DA took place at the same time as ME, but on a planet that was galaxies away that looks like its in this medieval era similar to the one that happened on Earth in the 5th-15th century area? And Morrigan was taking the child to Earth/Citadel/spacewhatever incognito for some dumb reason or whatever and then disappeared through magic.
that said I'd like another DA game that isn't DAII.
I will never forgive Bioware for how badly they fucked up DA2 and Mass Effect 3.

If i remeber a DLC in ME2 had you raiding some guys mansion and one of the statues in it was a giant Ogre

I'd love a Sci Fi universe that goes so far into the future that the world moves back to medieval society. I would assume WH40K is like that but I don't know enough about that universe to confirm it.

But it had Leliana and Alistair and Bodhan and Sandal and...boy, that really is about it, huh?
I still maintain that Dragon Age 2 would likely have had a warmer reception if it wasn't presented as a sequel to DA:O but rather as a side story or pseudo-expansion.
DA2 wasn't that bad of a game, but the fact that DA:O came before it ruined it completely. It had some questionable things, namely the whole "woops I accidentally fucked chinman Aveline right after I fixed her marital life", but aside from that it was a fun and fluid actioney RPG with an average story. It was just that - average, but it called itself a sequel to an exceptional game and thus it is the second coming of Hitler.

It was Kasumi's loyalty mission.
