What up. So I have been trying to play 2033 on my new build, which is more than capable of running the game on the highest settings, 560ti and i7 processor etc.
But the game has a weird sort of stuttering thing going on.
FPS wise it runs smooth, but sometimes when I look around in the area, the animations of the gun and the screen sort of twitch and jump. It doesn't lag, but this twitchy behaviour makes the game sort of unplayable.
It happens no matter what graphical options are set.
Even stranger is, I tried to record a video using FRAPS to show you guys, but when I start recording in FRAPS, the game doesn't do the twitchy thing. It's a bit lower on FPS because that usually happens with FRAPS but the twitchyness doesn't occur.
Anybody have any solutions?
Tried verifying game cache?
I'll give it a go now
Yeah it didn't work.
Any other suggestions?
Considering it doesn't do it when FRAPS is running, I assume it's VSYNC being turned off causing the problem. If it's already turned on, try turning it off
Okay VSync was off so I turned it on, and it still seems a bit jumpy but not as much, and then when I tried record with FRAPS it made it really jumpy.
Are your video drivers up to date?
Check the nvidia settings, and try to reset them in the 3D settings area.
Yeah the drivers are up to date, and reset all nvidia settings or just those for Metro?
In your metro 2033 config folder (username>AppData>Local>4A Games>Metro 2033) open user.cfg and turn Vsync on. (r_vsync on)
Then go into Steam>Userdata>folderwithnumbers>43110>remote and copy/paste the cfg you just edited into here, replacing the cfg.
Then paste this same cfg into the folder for metro in steamapps>accountname
------------
I have no idea why turning on vsync in the cfg and not the ingame menu works, but it's fixed the problem for a few people I know, myself included.
Another thing you could try is forcing the vertical sync option in your nvidia settings to "Adaptive".
That way metro doesn't use the wrong refresh rate and cause some really bad fps stutter, because the nvidia settings will force it to your monitor's default setting.
You can also use the panel to force off the default AA in Metro. I think it's set to supersampling AA automatically regardless of what the menu says.
It didn't work.
It's just really weird because the game is so damn smooth, no FPS slowdown at all, but its like the animations are stuttering when I look around or something.
And it only happens in certain places.
For example in Chapter 3, Khan, when you start in the airvent.
Everything in here is fine, I turn left and go out of that entrance and it is still fine, but if I take a left and go to that train with the light on, and look around that area, the animation twitches occur.
No clue how I can fix this.
I've got a GTX 580, i7 920 (non-oc) and 6 GB of ram, and I can run high on around 50 fps (30 during firefight)
I've got the same thing, I got it the first time when you are on the rail track [sp]and your crew gets poisoned so they sleep[/sp]
Yeah!
That's the EXACT same place it happened to me. Game ran fine until that point and since then I have had the problem!
I see that Metro 2033 uses PhysX, try updating that or finding a way to turn it off, PhysX has been known to do crap like this.
Yeah, DISABLE PhysX. It was a chore playing Metro 2033 until I disabled it - ran quite smoothly. You should read the steam forum for metro 2033, there's probably a guide to fixing performance problems there.
