Never played the game, but considering all the gameplay i've seen, this is something that should've been at launch with the game, maybe even with the patch entirely.
I don't understand why Sony didn't use this game to launch an Early Access program. They're the only ones without one aside from Nintendo, whose games library tends to be more first-party anyway, and the game wouldn't have gone from super hyped to most refunded in a couple of days because "we'll have it later" would be a valid response.
Don't really understand why you need a rover. The ship can cover distance faster. Although we all know this is just to bypass the limitation that reloads all planetary assets whenever you take off and touch down again with your ship.

If more good shit comes from Hello Games to fix their game and improve it, maybe in a year or two I will pick up the game.

I just can't support their shitty business practices. And in 2 years there will most definitely be way better games to occupy my sandbox needs in the mean time.

Knowing Hello games' track record getting in and out of the rover is probably going to be just as time consuming, if not more than taking off in a ship lol as for the whole seeing closer thing. Yeah that's got to be a step in the right direction. although they could have taken another route making the ships more interactive in terms of use. Why not just give the ship a ground hover mode where the assets around you don't go poof into thin air the moment you get in your ship? Whatever at least they are still working on the game.

Console manufacturers like to do strict quality control even on patches, because if for example the latest build of the game crashes on PS4 Pro, Sony also gets the blame from clueless gamers, which is going to hurt them in some way. This means that pushing an update can take quite some time, and since consoles are not required to be online most of the time, it's not even guaranteed they ever receive the updates. One of the major point of early access that it should help development but in this case it would just really slow it down. Consoles are about hassle-free gaming, early access doesn't fit into that.
while it is faster to take your ship around the planet, i still like the idea of having a rover to dick around in.
i hope you can be able to make a garage for the buggy
