I'm looking at getting a big monitor, and I saw this one:

Seems a little too good to be true, what do you guys think?
And what are some are similar ones, under 400-500usd preferably.
I also would like it to be 1920 x 1200 res.
My brother has one of their lower resolution monitors for his Xbox, really nice monitors.
I can't say anything about their bigger stuff, though.
Holy shit $270 for an almost 28" monitor?
And I thought my 21.5" was big
I wonder how the colors and contrast ratio stack up against other monitors though. I'd rather go smaller and have great image and color fidlity than big but not very notable.

It's being used as a tv aswell in my dorm. There's a bunch of reviews saying how good the colors and such are. Then there are the doa and dead pixel reviews. Not sure yet.
I have a Hanns-G HG281D, got it for £200~ almost 3 or so years ago, and it's lasted me perfectly.
The only bad thing about it is that the 0/0/0 blacks have a very SLIGHT blue tinge to them, but that's nothing really noticeable at all, especially in motion.
No dead pixels at all, 1920x1200 60hz. All I could ask for in a 28" monitor.
I think that's the only monitor at that price for 1920x1200 so. Go for it.

I'll pay more, but I just saw this and I'm skeptical.

$480[/QUOTE]Exceptional Screen Performance: Enjoy 1920x1200 maximum resolution, 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio and 80,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
Says the Dell monitor.
I guess your suggestion is a gimmick.
Oh I see it's a 24".
OP, what's your definition of "big"

Well I can't fit my 42in in my dorm, and I feel like my 22in would be a wee bit small to watch movies at some points. So 28 seemed to be a good fit in the middle.
I can't find any 27-28 inch with that resolution in your price range. But what I can tell you is that I'm using a Asus 27" and it looks fantastic at 1920x1080.
Here's a deal going on right now and judging from the reviews it can't be THAT bad.

Little black bars aren't a big deal and if you run the movies through VLC or other players, you can force a custom aspect ratio.
1920x1200 would look better on a 24" than on a 28"
And with your budget there is no reason not to get an IPS (or above) panel. TN just really sucks that much.

Haven't seen an ips panel yet, I suppose I should go look at one before I buy.
Hanns-G are excellent, in terms of colour at least. The resolutions are p. good too.
I'd make a thread some where else asking for a non-TN panel monitor, state your budget too.
