I bet you can still powergame this despite what the devs say it's really kind of sad that they have to act as kindergarten teachers because anonymity plus competition brings out the worst in people
"gg noobs honor"

They should just make it so friends cant give each other awards though, because I played with 2 other people and after every game we played, we just gave each other positive awards. I have played 4-5 games since this was put in, and I only encountered two friends who were trash talking the whole game because they were being owned.

Remember when you played an online game, probably still on 56k, and people were just nice and friendly, didn't need an automated baby sitter or incentives to act like a human fucking being? Fuck you, children! If it were legal I'd punch every baby I see in the face

Kids were respectful back then, I know I was. When older teenagers talked and dissed us, we kept quiet because we knew that well, we were the kids and they were the adults. Now kids aren't respectful at all, they just swear and yell, gee.
You can just be like "Aw man! I don't have the ribbon yet! I'm SO close!" Game ends and you have like 6 bonus honor, haven't tried it myself but my friend does it.

But... Dota 2 did it first..., although it's not out yet, they announced it for D2 earlier.
To be honest, it is working to an extent. I feel there's more neutral players now. Fake sportsmanship or not, would you rather some guy say "bl" every time you make a mistake or "fken noob"? If the same people keep Honoring you then it isn't worth much if anything. It's doing something to combat the trash that the MOBA community can be. I've actually only seen one type of ribbon. (Honorable Opponent) I haven't seen the other 3 ribbons yet. So no you can't just say "honor me and i'll honor you too" to your whole team.

Fuck you, children! If it were legal I'd punch every baby I see in the face[/QUOTE] That was long, long ago... I still remember when the biggest, meanest thing you called someone was "noob" or "lamer" Nowadays, its straight to fuck you, fuck your mother, I did you mother last night, and so on... Dota 2 for example is full of this. You die ONCE = "gg fucking noob stop feeding reported, everyone report X hes feeding noob". You're on your lane, you can't see the enemy in your lane for 5 seconds, somewhere else gets a surprise attack by them = "gj, mid sucks report please". You play a hero that has later game potential and has kittens for damage at start, people expect you to do a back flip and wipe out a full lane, you fail = "you fucking noob you can't even chase and kill them at low health, youre useless, reported". It's like they expect people to be THE VERY BEST when you have a team made of pure shit against a team that might also be shit but has a ton of counters or just plain good people. Its also beyond me why most people are so increadibly rude towards each other over a fucking game. Then they have the nerve of asking for a commendation over doing what they were supposed to do.

Everyone was cool and nice and I made two friends whom I still talk to.

On the other hand, that comes with the occasional person who takes the game way too seriously, and gets pissed off by the slightest mistakes.
It's not like it actually stops negative behaviour. Sure people cream everyone now, but there is still the same amount of trolls as before.
how can i play the bad guy if i have to be good
The worst part is that you get no indicator if you were actually a nice guy or not in the game. I always honor my lane opponents or the best player of the enemy team, unless they were being annoying/ stupid. I also try to keep everyone calm, not responding to any insults and I also block if necessary, yet I don't get one single honorable opponent. Then next game I am against some dude with a "Honorable Opponent" ribbon and he's a total dick. What the fuck? [sp]This needs a white knight image or something[/sp]
