At least they're not just trying to update the old kindle with new hardware a la apple, and it's actually something of a different thing.
I am so going to buy one.
Glad I waited on buying a nook color now.
Fucking hell, Kindle Fire? Two words? Just like 'Apple iPad'
Sue the fuckers
Pretty cheap by comparison to other tablets.
Anyone know what version the Android is from?
It's priced the same as the ones you get from china instead of the same as the Branded ones which are way over priced just for a dumb brand name.
Probably has Samsung S5pv210 CPU
Wow the fact that it was a black and white e-reader was a major selling point to me. Now it's just going to be another device where when you try to read something, you squint your eyes at pixels on a brightly lit LCD screen.

That's quite a name.
The presentation and even the slides (including their background) are all uncannily similar to Apple's Keynote presentations. I'm not trying to be a fanboy, but there's no denying how similar all this is.
I don't think the Kindle Fire will take on the iPad market, but maybe a market of it's own. That's what I'm hoping for anyways, because I honestly don't think this could compete with the sheer amount of functionality the other tablets out there offer. I think it's great that Amazon is going to try to get these out to a larger amount of people with the pricing though; maybe it'll have a larger user base in time and they can start pushing out the competition.
So it's gone from a unique product, with some fucking awesome selling points (1 month long battery life, just like paper display) to just another tablet.
I hope this is just a branch off the kindle, not something to replace the kindle (Google shows it is not, just another branch, you can still get ones with the keyboard and everything. Good)
Well even if you don't like this one you can get one of the others for less than 100 now, which is a nice price since I tend to spend more than that on hard cover books every couple months.
come on, the whole point of an ereader is the fact that it uses epaper. why does the saturated tablet market need another entry

They are still going to sell epaper ereaders as per usual, they just want to break into the tablet market; seeing as this tablet is smaller and cheaper than most others on the market, I don't see why they shouldn't release it as I expect it to be highly competitive(I may even consider buying one for myself)
