I've been looking at getting some new 5.1 speakers for my PC. I'm currently using a digital receiver which is for the DVD player anyway and not all games work in 5.1.
I'm stuck between 2 that I have found.
First one is:
Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers - 70W RMS

The other:
XTune 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System with Wireless Remote - 125W RMS

Which one would you go for or are there any others you would recommend?
Thanks.
you're not going to do 5.1 at the price for sure (at least decently)

The x-540 are great speakers, they were my first 5.1 speakers before I got the G51. You can blast them pretty loud and they sound decent. Any higher and you get the annoying "humming" at high pitches from the tweeters (I guess)
x540 are fine for normal people
I have this. 200W Logitech 2.1 set. Godlike for bassy party music and high tones are superb. Would not recommend for other styles.

Oh and movies and games on this set are 100% perfect. That sub brings everything to life and speech is crisp and clear.
second the Logitech Z-2300 2.1
I have the X-540s. They're decent, but you're better off saving up for a better set.
Oh wait, if you're not using 5.1 full then don't get those, I agree. Get the Z-2300
I would never buy a set with a sub and crappy satellite speakers, Instead get a good set with 3 way speakers and a seperate amp.
I had the X-540 for one day. Shitty bass, the speakers sounded tinny, and the subwoofer actually had the tube inside broken off.
I then bought z-5500 speakers. Fucking incredible compared to X-540s.

third
The x-540s are really good, i got it a couple weeks ago and its perfectly loud enough for me really.
you judge sound on how loud it is?

I improved the audio quality of my £2 headphones immensely by using this special dial on my keyboard

Any recommendations yourself then?

The 540 is good for the average user.
Annyone with any musical background will be dissapointed tough.

Quality 2.0 set beats a 5.1 set any day.
You can get a LOT better for your money instead of Logitech Z-2300 2.1 . Honestly Logitech doesn't make the best upper class speakers.
What is OP's max budget?
If the budget were £150 what would you be recommending?
Don't buy computer speakers that don't have Klipsch ProMedia in the name. They're both amazing and cheap.

Did everyone of you misread the OP? He said 5.1
I suggest z-5500.
I'm currently using X-530s and they've performed to my expectations for a good 5 years so I recommend getting the X-540s.
Z-2300s are pretty great for movies and gaming. Not great music speakers though as the bass is pretty over the top.
