• Cruise around Italy and Greece, or Visiting most major Eruopean cities? Pick best one

I would especially enjoy insight from those with experience with cruises, namely around Italy and Greece, however, my question is which would be better. As it stands, I have the choice between a cruise around Italy and Greece in the Mediterranean, or a trip between a lot of major European cities (London, Paris, Luxembourg, Bern, Venice, Florence, Rome, and Naples, give or take one or two of these cities) Which would be better? [editline]10:49PM[/editline] Also let it be noted that this will be my first trip to Europe, and probably my last
Eruopean? Italy and France, Greece isn't too good atm.
What do you mean by at the moment why would it not be good at the moment also money is not an object in this poll, please do not choose the one which would be less expensive just for the hell of it
Greece is in the worst economic crisis in the world at the moment.
what time of the year were you planning on going?
summer of 2011
Alfa Brera across Europe. Yes.
Italy is nice.
Greece is in the worst economic crisis in the world at the moment.
wow I didn't know this would that affect the tourist attractions there?
wow I didn't know this would that affect the tourist attractions there?
i doubt it, they desperately need tourism to at least keep some money coming in. i say go for the cruise if you're going in the summer, cities can be done at any time but a cruise should be in summer. also you said "most major european cities" but about 4 of them appeared to be in italy... and i wouldn't really call bern a major city. paris venice/milan berlin london barcelona athens etc. those are major european cities
So you're on the side of the cruise? This will be my only trip to Europe ever I'm kind of reluctant just to go on a cruise to the Mediterranean when I could apparently be seeing much more
why will it be your only trip *ever* ? [editline]12:50AM[/editline] and if you're reluctant to go on the cruise then why start this thread?
Because I have no money and am going to die young ; To gauge other people's opinions and find out if my opinion is really the best one which it seems like it is not since most people are voting for the cruise
Because I have no money and am going to die young ; To gauge other people's opinions and find out if my opinion is really the best one which it seems like it is not since most people are voting for the cruise
are you terminally ill? how are you financing this trip? and it's not a case of one is better than the other, they both are appealing and have pros and cons. also how were you planning on travelling between cities? and like i said before, is it just the cities you already mentioned (which are mostly italian, not "major european cities") or did you have others in mind? [editline]01:13AM[/editline] how long are you going for?
Going for
okay so what you actually meant was cruise around italy/greece or visit a lot of cities in italy, right?
no
okay, but it's still hardly major european cities. and definitely not most of them. if you want a road trip then take the cities trip, go and see all there is to see and experience the different countries you'll be in. if you want to chill out and take in your surroundings at a leisurely pace, then take the cruise.
Let me explain a little further
right, well in that case i would probably recommend the cities, you'll get more variety than the cruise, although the cruise might allow you to experience more of the... traditional part of the med. totally depends who you go with though i.e. P&O or other massive cruiser will just take you to tourist hotspots, but if you get a small family boat you could go right into the heart of the coasts - if you get me. also just visiting cities isn't neccesarily the best way to get to grips with culture, though on your timescale it's probably the best you could do. i'm also confused as to why you're facebook link says you're from birmingham but you're talking about flying into london...
;
then tell her you don't want to do that and go on the city tour instead... simple??
Just go to Germany, England, and the Netherlands.
i have told her that, but she doesn't care "WE GET TO SEE THE HOLY LAND AND PLUS ITS A CRUISE THERE ARE TONS TO DO ON A CRUISE SHIP, PLUS THE TOUR GUIDE SAYS THE CRUISE IS BETTER, PLUS ON THE CRUISE YOU GET TO SEE THE COAST AND BEACH THERE IS BARELY ANYTHING TO SEE ON A TRIP THROUGH EUROPEAN CITIES!
Just go to Germany, England, and the Netherlands.
and i thought i was bad at reading what OP is saying...
and i thought i was bad at reading what OP is saying...
I meant to visit the major cities in there silly.

Cruises are fucking awesome, I don't care where they go. [editline]10:56PM[/editline] Voted the option that involved the cruise.
