PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/P9mxWZ Price breakdown by merchant: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/P9mxWZ/by_merchant/ CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor ($99.99 @ Amazon) Motherboard: ASRock 980DE3/U3S3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($73.98 @ Newegg) Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($81.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB ACX Video Card ($219.99 @ Best Buy) Case: Silverstone GD09B HTPC Case ($74.99 @ Newegg) Total: $550.94 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available I already have an OS and HD and optical drive. How did I do? Looking for a HTPC with the maximum punch, but still full ATX. Backpack capable. I really like taking my computer around, and my laptop just isn't doing it for me anymore with the current generation games coming out. I'm on about a 625ish budget. How's it look?
I would get something like an i3-4150 instead. It only has 2/4 cores/threads compared to the FX6300's 3/6 but it performs way better in single threaded tasks and about the same in multi threaded tasks. It also uses way less power and produces much less heat.
