Oh thank goodness. The grind in Darkest Dungeon was horrible.
Has this game improved at all? Because I was super excited about it when I first heard of it, but then the last I heard was that apparently they were so determined to root out any strategies or exploits and ended up having it be that whether you won or not essentially boiled down to luck. And I'm not really down with that.

Partly because the game won't let you and partly because dungeons and bosses may be weak/strong against certain configurations. Either way, there is still a heavy element of luck in the game. That hasn't changed any (Radiant patch only reduces grindiness, not RNG). And while some people say that the RNG isn't so bad because you can "control for RNG" (whatever that means, I don't really know) sometimes you're going to be unlucky and someone is going to die. That's just how DD is.

Sometimes it can feel random but overall I realized that there is no ultimate fail state so you can actually train tons of mercenaries and slowly conquer each area. It's a real grind though.
This is the update I needed to get back into this game. My last playthrough lost its charm when I had 100%'d the town, and still had only managed a single (failed) run of the Darkest Dungeon - all my time was spent trying to bring people up to Level 6.
