So the family has decided to buy a new computer possibly next paycheck. However they are looking at http://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-BV627AA-ABA/15701591 and I'm looking to see if there could be any better builds.
Budget right now is about $430
I'll be using it to play source games mostly and l4d2 at 10-25 fps would be good.
1024x768 is my normal resolution of the monitor but it goes up to 1280x1024
We have a vista disc but it may be lost so would appreciate a build with and without OS.
We need everything but the monitor and we have a NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS if it needs to be reused.
I live in USA, Pennsylvania though I doubt state matters.
If you need any Addtional Information just ask.
The system you linked is terrible. Get this:

GT 240 performs better and costs less, I believe. Radeon 5670 is also very good at this price point.
Ahem 4830.
Get a better PSU.
Better Processor.
That build is not as good as it can be

1) Save up for this
2) Reuse a DVD drive and the 8400GS
3) Use the rebates

10-25 FPS? Your playing a fast paced powerpoint presentation, not a game.
hey now for the longest time I played Garry's Mod and L4D and averaged 15fps. It was not a powerpoint presentation, it was a slideshow, GET IT RIGHT!

Would it be cheaper to get this with vista or does it cost about the same now?
Also, Would this video card be better then the 8400gs or would it be better to reuse it?
As well as the ram is sold out, What is a good alternative?
For the Operating System we have a Vista 32 bit disc that came with our dell desktop, Would we need to use a new disc or would this one work?
I think Windows 7 is not much more expensive than Vista (like probably at most $10 USD).
The 4830 is tiers ahead of 8400 GS, it will run lots of games on max at lower resolutions. It could do high/medium on higher resolutions.
I'll find some RAM give me a sec.
No the OS that comes with prebuilts are usually reinstallation disks, so it would not work with a new, fresh computer.
[editline]10th February 2011[/editline]
The 4830 will run well on your 1280x1024 resolution. Don't expect high on Crysis or Metro 2033 though.
