This is the motherboard: http://commercial.asus.com/product/detail/21 with the specs on the bottom. its a AM2+ socket and this is the processor: http://www.mpx.no/k/ki.aspx?sku=594273&view=detailed#ProductTabs it requires AM3 (which i think am2+ can take) and has 6 cores with 3.2 ghz would they fit? cause in the motherboard specs, i cant see that it supports 6 cores, only up to 4. If that doesnt work im getting a gigabyte motherboard and an i7
I'd say go to the i7. Also, PC Building section.
oh, could any admin move this? Anyways, getting the i7 means that i need to get a new motherboard. which would cost me a total of a lot
check this site out for some info
Yes, it will work

Your motherboard does not have an AM3 compatible slot, which is required. So no, you won't be able to use that processor (to its FULL POTENTTIAL) without a motherboard upgrade. To be perfectly honest with you, unless you're performing very intensive tasks you won't need such a powerful processor, you may be better off just buying a high-end quad Phenom II which supports AM2+.
Yes, it will work. As long as the wattage of your socket remains the same. However, there will be limitations, so no DDR3 support. Yes, it can handle the amount of cores.. AMD has a different marketing strategy than Intel. Less "hey lets fuck over the consumer and manufacturer and make them pay for a new motherboard every two years!" What makes it more funny, is the fact that Intel motherboards seem to go up an extra $100, compared to AMD counterparts. And the CPUs, Well Intels 6 core is what, 3 times more expensive than the 1090T? But, why bother if you don't need 6 cores. If you got an old x2 processor, or the 1st gen Phenoms, go with the 955BE. You'll save yourself 100+ in cost, and you'll get great performance out of it. You can upgrade to bulldozer when its available next. Its an AM2+ CPU, and yes, it'll work on an AM2. The AM3 should theoretically work on the AM2 socket as well. Just make sure the socket handles the TDP/Wattage of the CPU. it may be best to go with a new AM3 motherboard in the next year. But don't worry. High end Am3 w/ the newest chip sets cost still significantly less than any intel. And it should give you at least 4 more years of upgrade ability.
I'd say go to the i7. Also, PC Building section.
Hey guys, lets suggest an Intel for someone who has an AMD. Then defer it to a different subforum. :downs:
I was in the process of editing my post restating to its full potential when you posted. As for my end point, still stands -- You don't need so much processing power unless you're performing heavily intensive tasks, which I doubt he is. Naturally I didn't go in to extensive detail in regards to the matter for various reasons, which you can percieve however you wish.
holy crap you guys are the best :D But i do some times do heavy tasks. But i am convinced. Where do i check if it can handle the wattage?

Newegg states on motherboards the socket TDP on the products page. Your CPU should state its required TDP on the products page.
Ill check that at once tomorrow, its late now. I thank you alot. Sorry, i cant really find the TDP on the motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131330&cm_re=m3a78_cm-_-13-131-330-_-Product
