next thing we know they'll announce they will allow us to run windows or something like linux mint on it
The only bad thing about the PS4 is the PSN+ requirement for online play. Even then, you are getting a much better deal than Xbox Live.

Apparently, if you order from the U.S. from overseas on Amazon.com, you'll have to pay a "Import Fees Deposit" of $100, resulting in a 10 dollar saving from buying overseas compared to local Amazon. Or am I missing something here?
If I imported the console from the US, it'd cost about 300€. But then I have to add shipping, the price of a new power cable, taxes and customs fee... Maybe even that "Import Fees Deposit" above.
I've always had everything marked as gift from videogamesplus.ca and got away without paying custom fees . Not sure if they do the same for consoles though but it might be worth mailing around if you're interested in importing.

But the shipping would still be relatively expensive.
