So, it's my 17th birthday tomorrow, and I'm sick and tired of my computer. It really fucking sucks when it comes down to it. The main drawback is the 2.4GHz single core processor.
Specs:
Operating System
MS Windows 7 32-bit SP1
CPU
AMD Athlon 64 3800+
Orleans 90nm Technology
RAM
2.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 299MHz (5-5-5-15)
Motherboard
MSI 0A7C (Socket M2 )
Graphics
512MB GeForce 8600 GT (ASUStek Computer Inc)
Hard Drives
156GB Hitachi Hitachi HDS721616PLA380 ATA Device (SATA)
156GB SAMSUNG SAMSUNG HD161HJ ATA Device (SATA)
So yeah, it's not great, and somehow I'm stretching this to run releases like Skyrim etc but really I'm getting closer and closer to not being able to run new games at all, browsing the internet is painful, and steam uses 20-30% of my cpu while idle.
So what I'm looking for is an upgrade, a new CPU, Motherboard, possibly power supply since my currant one has trouble with this rig. Nothing too fancy, I've given up on my dreams of GTX 580's and sand/ivy bridge i7's. Really I'm looking to get this all for under £100. My dad hasn't been able to get a job in 3 years, nor my mum, and the money I could have spent on a PC last year I spent on going to America for 2 months to see my girlfriend, I dropped out of college two months ago and I can't get a job. My PC is the center of my life these days, since thats how I keep in contact and play games with my girlfriend and friends and I'm reaching the end of my rope here. It's unbearable. Knowing that even if you guys do by a mericle find me sone incredible deal for <£100 there's no guarantee I could get it.
Sorry. I kind of rambled there didn't I :V
I guess I just needed to let it out.
But I would really appreciate you guys' expertise. It would make my day.
Thanks in advance I guess.
That's quite a predicament you're in there, I may be able to help. PM me for details.
sorry, but you're not gonna get all that with only £100
Yeah I know it's completely ridiculous, and there's no chance, but it's worth dreaming :V
And the budget isn't 100% strict.

To get a computer that's significantly better than your current setup, you would need a budget of at least £400.
wait, you were in college at 16?
and agree with above
UK
So can you explain it more? Not up on the age or school system there
Thanks.

Your 'Elementary School' is practically the same as what we call 'Primary School'
You have 'Middle School' and 'High School' which we group into one called 'Secondary School', the difference being you leave at 18, whereas we leave at 16.
Ahh ok that's interesting. Thanks
