The maps are bigger than SimCity's maps.
Mind you that this is not a city builder. You are managing the transport system of a city, not the city itself.

It's about transportation but now that you're able to lay roads, the buildings will automatically be generated which makes it partly a city builder. I don't like that however. The cities may be incredibly big now but it misses the whole charme of the first game since there are no little details, just randomly placed buildings.
There's always the editor if you wanted to make your own city with detail. That the premade maps generally have a decent level of detail.
What I meant with details are fences, concrete structures, stairs, plazas and other stuff from the first game that made every city unique. I don't see any of that on pictures, so generated or not - that stuff doesn't seem to exist. All I see are full buildings side by side. I mean compare this: [t]http://www.pcgames.de/screenshots/original/2011/02/CitiesInMotion_03.jpg[/t] with this: [t]http://cdn3.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/225420/ss_65189defe8f7d469bb8310c952d7e0a5bd1f3ebb.1920x1080.jpg[/t] The apparent lack of rural buildings makes it even worse. It seems you can only create NYC-like downtowns and industrial areas. I hope you can at least mod it. The only things I'm considering buying this for are wider subway/elevated train curve radii, pedestrian bridges (as seen in the preoder trailer) and all the different street types with bus lanes and one-way roads.
If you like this, Try OpenTTD.
