I want to play g-mod with my friend but whenever i try i just get a box that tells me that the server is not responding. The same happens to him when he tries to join me. Why is this happening?

Because you both have shit computers.
Me and mostly everybody I play with have this problem. I'm pretty sure the problem being that you're both hosting LAN games and have routers that are made for LAN gaming and not for dedicated servers.
