Hello guys, for a casemod/replica of a Aperture Science pc i'd like a mouse and keyboard in aperture style also. So, my question is: Have any of you seen any mice or keyboard that have the same shape/layout like on of them? (Doesn't need to be the same coulour or anything.) I've been searching for days now but the results were dissapointing. Thanks in advance! drum
The yellow keys are an anagram for "hard penis" just so you know
The oler Dell QuietKey looks perfect but I think that a Model M (or other mechanical) would be the best since you could just swap out the keycaps for the coloured ones, too http://www.fentek-ind.com/keys.htm Filco Realforce 103U ($250 though) keycaps would be simple to find for that, the Tab is different, though.
Wow thanks. That looks usefull, perhaps someone can find a keyboard that's also available new? Btw: a monitor suggestion + mount would be very helpfull too. *nods*
The yellow keys are an anagram for "hard penis" just so you know
Yes, i was aware of that, that only makes it more awesome.
If you can colour your own keys somehow, get the dell quiet key. Should be able to get one cheap.
I do have this: Will this do too?
If the layout not being perfectly identical doesn't bother you (enter key and \ key, tab) sure. Is that mechanical? Looks nice.
It does bother me that the windows keys are missing. Sorry for the picture size. :X
The guy who made the Aperture Science workstation used a Dell keyboard and painted over it.

Argh, it's hard to find keyboard replacement stickers that are black and transparant.
Looks like a pretty standard plain old cheapo keyboard. Though it doesn't seem like anyone is making them like that anymore, everyone wants them to look "fancier". You'd probably be best off finding an old used one, you might even get one for free.

Depending on how porous the plastic keys are, you could probably get away with dying them.
But then the letters will be gone. :P
The guy who made the Aperture Science workstation used a Dell keyboard and painted over it.
Hah, I've got one of them. Should totally go for it
Hah, I've got one of them. Should totally go for it
That keyboard wasnt even rectangular though, it had a rounded back.
That keyboard wasnt even rectangular though, it had a rounded back.
Yeah, get the old dell quiet key I posted, it's perfect.
You know what, I'm half way through building a tiny AMD K8 XP machine, I still don't have a keyboard and I had might aswell look for an aperture styled one.
go to goodwill, they will most likely have tons of old keyboards like you want
Depending on how porous the plastic keys are, you could probably get away with dying them.
I doubt you could get away with dying them effectively.
Just go to the local school and ask if they have old mice and keyboards, they usually have old things you nab.
I'm wrapping up painting the keys. I'll post the result when the paint is dry.

And Valve never thought about selling keyboards. Time to expand your market.
My school has tons of old keyboards lying around, sadly they're all shit rubber dome ones form the ninties, no model M's or anything like that.
