Serial ATA drivers need updating - None available?

Hey all.
So as the Steam sales are on us, I bought Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. Played it through and after a while I crashed, like it froze for half a second and then my PC restarted. Googled the issue and nothing came up relating to it. I looked for dump files in my Windows folder (including minidumps) but nothing cropped up there either. I couldn't see any BSOD.
But after I had a look in my Device Manager, I saw that my SATA controller didn't have a driver. Tried looking for one online but fuck me it's like they don't exist.

Normally this wouldn't matter if I was using a single storage device (which I was) as this has never happened to me in the past 4 years that I've has this PC. However on the 20th Dec I did upgrade my PC's 2TB HDD (holding Windows 7 HP 64 bit and stuff) to a 240GB SSD (now holding Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit along with a few programs like Steam), 3TB HDD (now holding my games, music and all the other crap) and said 2TB HDD (which still has all my Win 7 stuff on it, where I'm slowly transferring it's contents over time to the other 2 drives). AFAIK my RAID controller is crap on my motherboard so I've stuck leaving it in AHCI mode and each drive is its own partition.
I was thinking about download Intel's RST but that confused the hella of me, because it mentioned that it was for some NUC shit and me being paranoid I don't want to download it especially with the whole "This download is valid for the products below..." all of which none relates to me (I think). Anyway...
After a fuckton of searching for one night I ended up on this forum thread which looked promising, indicating why I don't have any drivers for my controller. Furthermore, the original drivers DON'T support my motherboards chipset, but this guy's modified ones do (scroll down to his section C-1). Infact, he states my motherboard's chipset. Coincidence much? I've downloaded his modified 64 bit driver but at that point I'm at a loss. I'm not sure whether I should try installing that or if there's a better solution out there...
Anywho, I think that's all I need to explain. Here's my system specs for interest:
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit
CPU: Intel i7 920 @ 3.2GHz (OC, stock was 2.7GHz)
RAM: 18GB DDR3 Tri-Chan @1066MHz
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 580 (driver: 331.82)
Mobo: Click here for the full specs
Storage (AHCI mode): 240GB SSD, 2TB HDD, 3TB HDD
PSU: 875W
If you guys need more info, please do shout. Last thing I want to do is to replace my motherboard because although it's outdated, it means I have to replace a lot of other shit as well. I'd like to replace it, but yeah, like I said.
Cheers.
EDIT/UPDATE:
So actually, in my device manager, I do have a SATA controller driver, but it's dated back to 2006. And that one in the image above is still there. Ugh.
Typically those drivers would come from the motherboard manufacturer's website... if you can't find them there then maybe looking up the hardware ids (device properties>details>hardware ids) on pcidatabase.com will at least help point you in the right direction. But I'm not sure that a sata driver has anything to do with your random reboot if your system was running fine for so long, I'd check the usual suspects too like temps, dust out your pc, memtest, test the new drives, etc...
Hmm, well I haven't had it in a while now, and what you've posted kinda goes way over my head. I found the hardware ID's but what do I put in the search bars?
Thanks for the help by the way.
EDIT:
Scratch that, it just happened again. This seems to only be happening to Far Cry, as I was playing GTA IV earlier for quite a while and that turned out fine.
I'm guessing you have an Alienware Aurora ALX (because the MS-7591 is an MSI OEM board made specifically for Alienware/Dell.) MSI (and other motherboard manufacturers for that matter) don't support OEM board runs for their customers. The only hope you really have is if you can find the MSI motherboard the 7591 is based off of, or find the driver based on the name of the motherboard chipset.
This is another classic example of "you get what you pay for". You bought an Alienware machine and you got what you paid for (overpriced crap mostly) with Windows 7 x64. It was designed for what it came with, it was never designed to run Windows 8.x.
If the Dell Windows 7 drivers don't work:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/alienware-aurora-alx
And you can't find the drivers directly from the SATA controller manufacturer or Intel themselves, you're pretty much SOL.
Yeah, I checked the Dell site and although I found my PC after whacking in a serial number, the SATA drivers were dated badly.
Bought this back in 09 though (when I didn't know how to build), so it's not been too bad going. I can live with it easily until I build a new mATX rig. I think the problem is actually FC3:BD anywho. A quick Google shows that a lot of other people get the same issues. Sucks, just fucking bought it. GG Ubisoft.
I'm running a memory test overnight just to be sure, but after playing some Dirt 3 and some more GTA, I've yet to have these problems again. Cheers anywho.
find a cheap 1366 board from a retailer with proper drivers and do a board swap.
Closest thing I could find that was actually good is ASUS' RAMPAGE III GENE which looks horribly expensive, hard to find and has no 8.1 support on the website. I genuinely can't be arsed to replace it. I'll probably just upgrade everything sometime next year.

The hardware id will be a string like "PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_06CD&SUBSYS_34F51458&REV_A3" (using my video card as an example), the vendor would be 10DE and device would be 06CD, those are the values you would punch into that site.

Cheapest one I could find on Amazon UK.

Ah I get it. Sadly the links to the site are dead so I'm still at a dead end. Useful site though, thanks.

That's an ATX, I need a mATX. Sorry I should have mentioned that.
What links are dead? All that should give you is the device name/model so you can look up a driver for it somewhere, you don't get the drivers from the pciid database site.
Wow I'm a muppet. Yeah okay I see what you mean now. I'll take another longer look later on but it seems like I can't find one for Windows 8.1 right now.

A MicroATX LGA1366 board is like trying to find a needle in a haystack of infinite size. It'd be easier to also get a new case and stuff the parts from the Alienware in it.
Yeah, I'm thinking of rebuilding my PC from scratch next year. I tend to keep the side panel off anyway otherwise it overheats.
At this point, your only viable options other than rebuilding your PC with another motherboard is to downgrade Windows, or get a cheap gigabyte ethernet expansion card or USB dongle. You should consider doing so instead.
"Your hardware is shit. Buy new hardware" is not a solution to his problem, you guys.
Don't worry about it. I'm pretty sure it's just Blood Dragon acting up. I've yet to have this problem with other games and I run quite a few programs off the HDD as well without issues. I don't even know if this is a problem at all, I just thought it was.
I appreciate all the help you guys have given. My hardware is getting dated and although it still performs reasonably well, it may be time to throw in the towel later this year for a new mATX rig down the road.
Just as well, my laptops HDD may have died today. Sending it in to be looked at by a few engineers I know. Everything wants to die on me recently... lol
