• Screen Goes Black Then Comes Back
    8 replies, posted
This just started happening today, I start up my computer and I can play around some and then my screen goes black and comes back seconds later. I get the message about my display driver being restarted. I took a look in device manager and found this every time it happens: "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." My drivers are up to date according to Nvidia's site. My graphics card is the Nvidia GTX 580. I have no idea what could make this happen just so randomly. If you need more information just ask. Also, my problem is just like this guys: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=197843&st=0&p=1223541&hl=BSOD&fromsearch=1&#entry1223541 I don't know if this would be usefull, but I just noticed when it happens my Mozilla Firefox crashes aswell, but any audio that is playing still sounds great.

If ^ fails pop out the graphics card and pop it back in.
Says my graphics card temperature is 59C. EDIT: I will try what you said when I get back form school later today.
If it's 59c while idle, that's a tad bit high. Run the furmark stress test and check the maximum temp.
I used to get this once in a while in TF2 but not really from any other game, so I think its normal to do this once in a while but if it happens all the time you may have a problem with the drivers or a bad GPU like I had.
