So I need a little help getting around network connection bans based on an internally assigned IP address.
We have routers dotted around the house, if you're connected to any of them you are supposed to be able to (but can't) access a few file servers and have network connection, he's modified the way proprieties work so I have the lowest and, of course, every device connected is assigned a static internal IP address and he can turn on/off network connection for those devices at any time. As far as I know the devices are blocked access to anything outside of our home network if they're banned. I'd love it if you guys could show me how to get around those bans, at all times of the day for all ports, if it's possible.
You only really need to read this but the last paragraph but some context if it helps:
I don't get along very well with my stepdad, I'm in sixth form and it's been made quite clear that after leaving to university I won't be welcome back. He works in computing and has set up some needlessly complex home network that manages file servers for movies, music and photos. It crashes regularly and when it crashes everyone losses network connection. Whilst this is a pain in the arse for the whole sixth form work thing, more annoyingly, it's hugely frustrating for gaming, streaming and browsing Facepunch (really because those are something I want to be doing rather than something I have to do). He used to set timed bans (so I could only have network connection between 4pm and 10pm) and port bans (so I could only play games, use skype and download games between 6pm and 9pm) but after a huge argument it was made quite clear that the bans weren't a sustainable.
Anyways, after an argument he made it clear he intended to implement those bans again, my previous way of circumventing the bans isn't exactly possible anymore so I was wondering if you guys know how.
I guess it's apparent that I have issues with authority, trust me my last stepdad (although they never married, idk always easier to call him a stepdad) was much, much worse... at least my mum insists. From my perspective he was just bipolar, and therefore really horrible sometimes and really nice other times. Though if he wanted to take something away from me (i.e. my internet connection) he'd just take it physically, he wouldn't do this shit. You can escape from someone who exists purely in the physical world.
Also, while I'm here how do you guys feel about these bans ethically? I mean I get that he (well my mum, he earns jack shit) pays for the network, the electricity and everything. But I need internet for school work, socializing and it's generally an integral part of my life.

For the guy in that thread - every device is assigned a static IP, all devices are assigned network connection and to deny he has to manually do it on some application he has on his PC.
short answer (not a network specialist): not really
if he's going as far as mac assigned statics, a. you need to get MAC addresses from an allowed computer and then b. deal with the network going tits up when you have duped MAC addresses

Yeah I said I didn't want to make it, it's fucking stupid but to be honest I really didn't know how else to explain it. Doing this just seems plain wrong to me, then again so did making that comparison. I snipped it out, because you're right it was dumb. Just unsure of how else to phrase how essential network connection is to modern life.

And as far as getting around it, that really sucks, to be perfectly honest it effected my school work, social life and mental health and if he's going to kick it up again because he feels I don't deserve it because I don't work and pay a mortgage for a house, I really don't know what to do.
Yeah, seems like mac spoofing and turning off the other device is your best bet.
Do you have access to the internet all day (Eg view Facepunch whenever you want) if so you could look into running a VPN such as open VPN over port 80 or 443 (HTTP/S)
Could try doing what Crypto suggested and MAC spoof a different device which is allowed (will require a specific type of network card however) but that could cause of sorts of internal issues and depending on what gear if being run could easily be blocked / detected.
I suppose if you could make the network go "crazy" using various programs all the time your Mom / Anyone else in the house might complain that they cant do anything and if they arnt tech literate you could be like "Step dads network restrictions are causing the problem"
Can't you explain the issue to your mom or something?
Or you could just get a USB 3G dongle providing you are able to live with however much data is set as part of the package, Do your neighbours have Wifi and do you get along with them? Ask them if you can use their Internet even if you pay a little bit towards it (Just dont do anything illegal on it last thing you want to do it get them in trouble with their ISP)

Explain the situation to your mom, especially the part where it affects your ability to do homework.

Alright so apparently there isn't any real solution to this as mac address spoofing fucks the entire system up, this appears to be more of a personal problem than a software issue so don't worry guys.
Just for the two questions:
My stepdad believes people who aren't in the world of work shouldn't have the rights of people who are (he's also voting for UKIP) and because of that he's not on the best of terms with my stepsister who isn't working a 9-5 but is trying to be an author. I doubt she'll make it, but he's not been very nice about it.
The mental health affect thing was a bit far, but I've suffered from middle class white kid depression quite a bit and two things that really help is Facepunch and gaming with my friends, two things that are really taken away by this situation.
So I can't seem to mark this thread solved, I'm probably just missing the button on my tablet, but yeah, don't worry this isn't really fitting with the hardware/software thread anymore seeing as there's no hard/software solution.
