FPS In Source - Hardware & Software

System hardware specs - Processor - Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz - RAM - 8GB GDDR2 - Graphics Card - ASUS ATI EAH5850 TOP - Operating System - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Addons you have installed [img]http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc286/1337sause/GMODADDONS.jpg[/img] My problem is that i get a limited ammount of frames when playing gmod. Despite my hardware, i only manage to get a maximum of 60 frames per second, while others get 100-150. What is causing my "low" FPS and how can i fix it. Edit: I have also turned of post processing effects and it does not help.

Turn off V-Sync.

It's because of your refresh rate, you won't see more than 60 FPS anyways if your refresh rate is set to 60(which is absolutely ok, no reason to change it). Why would you care though? It only means your graphics card renders frames that aren't even showing.

Goto options on the main menu of Gmod and then goto video, hit advanced and uncheck vsync.

what about drivers?

perhaps try an older driver?

Is this only GMod? Does this affect other source games?

Try running a copy of clean gmod with nothing installed, and post your frame rate

Go into console and type "fps_max 300"

V-Sync off - My v-sync is always off fps_maxframes 300 - Did nothing Re install gmod - Did it and i got slightly improved frames but still not good. All my drivers are up to date and still when i play gmod i get an average frame rate of 50 when people i'm comparing my frames to have worse graphics cards than me and are getting an average of 200+ frames. Can somebody please tell me whats going on and how i can fix this?

If multi-core rendering is on, turn it off. If it's off, turn it on. For some people it does give a boost, and others it can take away FPS.
