i dont have the time anymore to research what i need to get but it's about damn time that i get to make art assets with dx11 features. i just need a good nvidia gpu for games, 3d, and udk/other engine stuff. budget is $500 max. tia o yeah i currently have an i7 920, gtx275, 12gb ddr3 and other important stuff are p good too idc
GTX 670
Get a GTX 680 if your budget is $500. It's not much better than a GTX 670, but it'll get you slightly better FPS. One of these two is what I'd get: GTX 670: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125423 GTX 680: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125422 The GTX 680 is a little over your budget, but it's ultimately up to you if you want the slight FPS difference. Also, get the Gigabyte GTX 670/GTX 680. They have better cooling than the other cards. I also believe they're factory overclocked as well.
thanks guys
thanks guys
No problem. May I ask what you've decided on?
Get the 670, $100 less and when overclocked is better than the 680
Get the 670, $100 less and when overclocked is better than the 680
I dunno. I'd get the 680, honestly. I'm not much of a money nazi, though. So I guess if he wants to save some money and lose a slight performance increase, it's his choice. Not saying that the 680 is a lot better than a 670 - just saying by a slight amount.

The 670 is plenty good enough, and as Walrus said, the 670 can be overclocked to 680 Levels easily.

I said if he wants a little better performance, he should go with the 680. It's like $15 over his budget. Sure, you can overclock the 670, but you can also overclock the 680 which would surpass the overclocked 670. Personally, I prefer sticking with stock settings, so I have a good reason to stick with the 680. Maybe he's the same way? I don't know. He never gave that information.
670
I did pick the 670 deaded listed: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125423 for my purposes it's the best price/performance and I would rather spend less right now. i read up a lot of benchmarks on both and the 680 was so marginally better than the 670 that it's nowhere near worth the money. I always oc my cpus and gpus and have great cooling so the 670 more than suits my needs :~)

From what I've read, it's overclocked and has better temps than the stock 670s. Good choice if you're not a performance nazi like I am lol.
