Hey guys,
I'm going to get a new PC. Going to order it tonight. I have a few questions.
-Whats a good CPU cooler for the i7 920 (Going to OC)
-Is this evga 141 x58 Mobo good?
-Your opinion on this build.
Other things to note;
-I would wait for Windows 7 for it's official release, but I'm getting this as a gift tonight and I can always upgrade in a couple months when it's released.
-Going to SLI the GTX 285 soon.

without operating system
Audix that Monitor is overpriced.
Just get a 23"
No need to spend $300 on a monitor. A good, solid one ranges from $150-$220.(250 being the most).
dont get gtx285, get the 280 instead or a 4870 X2
there wont be so big difference between the 285 and 280
I've heard good things about DarkKnight. I ahve a friends who used a noctula.

Good build, but get a cheaper monitor, and a 4870x2 instead of the other card.
Get a CPU cooler and go ahead and overclock it.
Get some VGA cooling.
There might be cheaper monitors at different stores, look around a bit.
Finally someone who spends 30$ for another 500Gb
As for a cooler get the TRUE.

Just get Vista Home Premium with a free 7 upgrade - that way you won't be paying a ton for extras you don't need (ultimate) and you'll have 7 when it's released
If you wanted to get a different monitor, here is a good one that I will be buying soon.

It's 23", 1080p, has hdmi, dvi, vga, built-in speakers, and is only $200 (not counting shipping).
Finally bought it last night, hopefully to get it on Thursday or Friday. I had to order the video cards off of tigerdirect.com because of the insufficient quanity on newegg. :-(

Congrats on ripping yourself off.
For $200 less you could have gotten crossfire 4870X2's which will run circles around those GTX 285's.
http://www.techreport.com/r.x/radeon-hd-4870-x2/hl2-1920.gif
CF 4870X2 gets ~140 fps. SLI GTX 280 gets 115 fps, and a GTX 285 is just a small amount better than the GTX 280.
The Phenom II 965 has around the same performance for hundreds less than the i7 (taking into consideration mobo, RAM, etc.).
Caviar greens aren't the best to have as your primary drive.

I got the total rig for 920 bucks so I'm not complaining.

How?
holy shit 920 bucks?
Wow. Where did you fucking get such a deal?
edit: FUCK THIS GUYS
How?
I only had to pay for the expense of the GPU's.
I only had to pay for the expense of the GPU's.
omfg what a waste.
2GB graphics cards? Get out, even @ 2560x1600 its unneeded, 1792MB GTX 295 x 2 would be a better choice than that.
(even though its a dumb choice, ala 5870 in 1 fucking month)
I only had to pay for the expense of the GPU's.
That doesn't change the fact that for two hundred dollars less you could have gotten CF 4870X2s for a huge performance increase over the GTX 285s.
Or, yeah, wait for the 5870 which is supposedly very good.

fixed
It's fine. :)
It's fine. :)
Not really.
[editline]12:34PM[/editline]
haha OP is a loser, he took off a GTX 285, after saying 'it's fine'
For $920, instead of wasting your money on the GTX 285s, you could have bought three 5870's, crossfire two, and send me one. And still get better performance than the 285's.
Why are you settling for a card that isn't as powerful as another that's also cheaper
Not really.
