I'm having some trouble with the network on this Ubuntu machine.
It's currently running Ubuntu 10.10 i686.
$: uname -a
Linux steffen-Ubuntu 2.6.35-23-generic #41-Ubuntu SMP Wed Nov 24 10:18:49 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
Apart from the standard installation, I've updated to the latest of everything, including software installed after the installation. (as of 19:28, GMT +1)
Software installed after the installation
Wine (latest from the reps)
elegant-gnome
VLC (removed "movie player")
Opera
Thunderbird (removed "Evolution mail")
Skype
Dropbox
VirtualBox-OSE
TrueCrypt
ndiswrapper + ndisgtk (Not sure which, installed from the Software center)
ntfs-config (used for my external drive, for execution of Apps and Games)
And that's it. The net seems to do this at random, and reconnecting doesn't work; I have to reboot the machine. (Note: I haven't tried anything else than reconnecting)
Does the machine have both wired and wireless, and are they used at the same time? What exactly is disconnecting?

Well that's the problem. Wired and wireless, but only wireless is used. No wired connections are made. And it doesn't "disconnect", it just stops responding, in the sense that I can't access anything from a browser, I can't send pings to websites or IP's, not even the router itself. Yet the connection stands as active on 5Mb (usually 24Mb when Idle/Active and the network is working). This does NOT happen when I'm using Windows, and I'm the only in the house experiencing this (Also the only one using Ubuntu and ndiswrapper for network).
Try to ifdown/up the network interface (ex. ifdown wlan0, ifup wlan0)

I'll try this the next time it happens, thanks. If it does.. It hasn't happened in some time now, but it's all just strange. I'll update this thread if need be.

Tried ifdown/up and even /etc/init.d/networking restart.. Neither work.
