looks pretty damn awesome
sadly ended up getting two auroras (one for me, another for a pal) instead of one of these sweet bastards, but then again, probably gonna go try and get something like it once the game comes out since having a sweet sweet ship to cruise around Terra alongside a massive, ugly freighter in my hangar is just too sweet of a deal [editline]24th June 2013[/editline] also, relevant the brochure for the ship

Seems kind of pointless to pay for a ship with real money that you can get in the full game.
They're more real than RPS' journalism, HEH
Did buying one ship mean you can't get the other in game? Seems kind of pointless to pay for a ship with real money that you can get in the full game.
you will indeed be able to get it for ingame currency but buying it right now, first off, gives you "lifetime insurance" for it, meaning that everytime you get your certain ship fucked, you get a new one for free. After a certain date (a couple days from now) the lifetime insurance deal goes away, and will be replaced with regular insurance. If I recall correctly, you will be able to get insurance in game, though it will be expensive and I think lifetime won't be an option. Also, you'll have a leg up at the start of the game, so when everyone's flying around their starter ships, you'll be cruising around in a sweet ass luxury fighter (which is still by idea supposed to be very vulnerable to the smaller ships since the combat is supposedly a lot more WW2 style dogfighting rather than a "hurr I brought a bigger ship than you have fun taking down my shields, seeing how they regenerate faster than you can damage them and my guns obliterate planets while yours are best for lighting the way"). Mostly though, buying stuff right now is just helping the crowdfunding campaign. There's a guy that bought over 50 ships, including the RSI Constellation, which is currently granted to people who pledge 250 dollars, and all of them are duplicates, since you only have like 10 or less pledge ships. No point in having several of the same ship because of the lifetime insurance, but he still did it.
