Wow, never thought CCP would fuck up that hard, did they hire Kotick?
Christ, how could CCP screw this up so bad
Seriously this is going to turn into what everyone hopes would happen for Cod - that the playerbase would get fed up and jump ship but this is happening to the wrong game
Wow, this is going to end up like star wars galaxies - run into the ground by retarded dev choices in updates.
An apology letter which says
Can I please count on at least some of you to help bring the pitchforks and torches down a few notches?
isn't really an apology it's a request
To be honest, I'm not that worried.
Not too many people are entirely willing to spend around thirty bucks on a pair of boots for an in-game avatar. Or seventy for a monocle. THen again, some of the ISK billionaires who literally have nothing else to spen ten or twenty billion ISK on would probably do it as an instant show of wealth. And that is largely what it is, a show of wealth and nothing else.
If anything, my biggest gripe right now is the fact that your avatar can't move faster than a slow walk; as in he can't run. If the upcoming station environments are much bigger than your quarters this game really is going to turn into a nightmare.
The Mann. Co update for TF2 had a reason to be controversial because it was paid for exclusive shit that diminished the actual gameplay. There's nothing wrong here since nobody can actually see your player in EVE and the clothes are all bought with in-game currency.

There isn't even a reason to use the in-station navigation so why are you complaining

I'm aware you can disable station environments if that's what you are implying. Maybe I should have stressed that it is my only serious gripe, and I could give fifteen flying shits about the EVE equivalent of TF2 hats. As for me complaining, I find it annoying to say the least that you can't do something so commonplace and fundamentally necessary in every other 1st/3rd person game ever made.

Large station environments will include moving walkways like at airports for fast travel.
There's a really really big protest going down in Jita right now because of this - http://www.justin.tv/deamosseraph#/w/1380742320
I stopped giving a shit about CCP when they announced Dust as a PS3 exclusive.
Fuck them. I was waiting for it.
“Assume for a short while that you are wearing a pair of $1,000 jeans from some exclusive Japanese boutique shop. Why would you want to wear a pair of $1,000 jeans when you can get perfectly similar jeans for under $50? What do other people think about you when they see you wearing them? For some you will look like the sad culmination of vainness while others will admire you and think you are the coolest thing since sliced bread. Whichever it is, it is clear that by wearing clothes you are expressing yourself and that the price is one of the many dimensions that clothes possess to do that in addition to style and fit. You don’t need to buy expensive clothes. In fact you don’t need to buy any clothes. Whatever you choose to do reflects what you are and what you want others to think you are.
We will gradually introduce items at other price points, definitely lower and probably higher than what‘s in the store today. We hope you enjoy them and are as passionate about them as you are of the current items that are for sale.”
Ahahahahaha
I witnessed eve die over the course of days. It's a great game. I'd hoped i'd never see the day when it died because ccp thought it would be a good thing to put pay to win items in.
why would any developer think its a good idea to put in pay to win items
