For those in-game, the Cartel Market will be selling - for 24 hours only - the title of “Revan’s Heir”
Isn't this ironic because [sp]you can kill Revan ingame?[/sp]
Isn't this ironic because [sp]you can kill Revan ingame?[/sp]
[sp]He doesn't actually "die" he just kinda teleports out before his health bar drops below 1[/sp]
suck my dick TOR, you stole and ruined all the KOTOR lore, don't pretend to celebrate it as well
You have to *buy* the title? Dick move. It should be given to anyone that logs in that day.
Where other MMOs go out of their way to make huge ingame events about Anniversaries like this, TOR just adds a line of text to the Cartel Market to buy. Nice.
10 cartel coins isn't really much of anything lol you can make a class you don't play as, play it for about 3 minutes to get an achievement, bam 20 cartel coins already
It's still ridiculous. Hey, we have an MMO, you basically have to pay to enjoy it after a certain point, or to access PvP and Instances more than a couple times a week. We have a 10th anniversary event starting to celebrate Knights of the Old Republic, and we're releasing a new title for the event! You have to buy it. Who else does that but EA
BTW they're rereleasing KOTOR for iOS devices for the anniversary; buy that and play through it again or get it on steam if you haven't played it already, it's one of my fave games (so is the sequel) and everyone should play it. No one should play TOR. [editline]6th July 2013[/editline]
Isn't this ironic because [sp]you can kill Revan ingame?[/sp]
what the fuck?
No one should play TOR.
But it's supposed to be KOTOR 3, 4, 5 and 6. You don't want to miss out on that do you? [editline]6th July 2013[/editline] It's true. He dropped pants and a speeder that I won the roll on
Maybe take off 90% of the F2P restrictions and I might consider playing TOR again.
The are also adding some Bastilla and Darth Malak Costumes, which is sad because they don't work at all with the art style, and it makes a 10 year old game look better than TOR.
I saw "The Old Republic to c..." and I assumed it would say "close". Boy was I disappointed.
The are also adding some Bastilla and Darth Malak Costumes, which is sad because they don't work at all with the art style, and it makes a 10 year old game look better than TOR.
The outfits are already in game, been there for months.
With Cartel Coins, which you get for free by doing achievements.
And once your achievements dry up?
what the fuck?
[sp] 4 random dudes kill Revan for his pants.[/sp]
Everytime i see the old republic i kind of want to to play KOTOR. But then i remember taris, korriban, manaan, and those awful fish-man noises and think its probably better to fondly remember it than replay it.
Isn't this ironic because [sp]you can kill Revan ingame?[/sp]
you know i was actually kind of behind TOR (or about as much as you could be) before i heard about this. [sp]if there's one thing i just cannot be doing with, it's when they retroactively ruin far superior games[/sp]
The Malak/Bastilla costumes are already there. I have the Revan set (with a Nihilus mask). Looks pretty fucking great.
Is it wrong that I love KOTOR and SWTOR equally?
Is it wrong that I love KOTOR and SWTOR equally?
You're not allowed to like something if the facepunch hivemind has deemed it bad.
I like some parts about TOR and some parts I kinda dislike. I liked the Imperial Agent and Trooper story lines, two of your indoctrinated loyalist to their side of the War [sp]Imperial Agent not so much after Chapter 2 and 3[/sp] I liked seeing the Republic and Imperial chain of command how they worked and etc. Some things like Taris, God fuck Taris.
You're not allowed to like something if the facepunch hivemind has deemed it bad.
Unfortunately I think it's less the Facepunch Hivemind and more the "Everyone who isn't specifically a TOR fan" Hivemind. I think the Imperial Agent and Trooper class stories were neat. Everything else was was subpar generic MMO. I wouldn't even play it for free even if the restrictions weren't retarded and I didn't have to pay $20 for an expansion that adds as much as a WoW/GW2 content patch.
suck my dick TOR, you stole and ruined all the KOTOR lore, don't pretend to celebrate it as well
Sounds like a popular trend in single player rpg's to MMO games lately. I'm looking at you ESO

I originally had TOR pre-ordered, though cancelled it because at the time my PC had fits when trying to run the beta/early access. I started playing it again the other day, and decided to pick up a subscription, and purchased the Cartel expansion for good measure (which was £5.99 w/ sub discount). Though I most likely won't play the game past a month, as I tend to play many different MMO's back to back. It was between this and renewing my screensaver online subscription. Perhaps I'm subconciously forcing myself to like it because I love the star wars expanded universe, perhaps I'm batshit insane... Yes, it does have a large amount of typical MMO features - yet I don't recall a single MMO ever being made that is 100% unique, it doesn't make it a bad game. Though I definately think that the free to play model could be done a bit better. There is little reason to justify buying items off the cartel market outside of cosmetic apparel as most of it is focused towards F2P/"Premium F2P" players. This in turn doesn't really add up pricing wise compared to a subscription (you need to be a subscriber to post on their forums too, though this doesn't appear to be noted anywhere, which is a bit silly because a potential paid player may be having issues getting the game to even run). In turn though from what I see many of the people complaining about the model are pure F2P players who openly admit that they would never spend a penny on the game. I agree that it does seem rather silly that they would charge you 10 cartel coins for a title which they could simply just give everyone with an existing and active account for free. Though in turn Cartel Coins are hardly that hard to earn, you can get them from achievements (if you're a pure F2P player). If you're a subscriber you get 500 per month, hell, the other day they gave all subscribers an additional bonus of 500 cartel coins. (One of the events for the anniversary is apparently to run cartel coin giveaways on their social media pages, as to how this will work however isn't said on their blog. Hopefully they conduct time limited code giveaways rather than single-use codes. If they do time codes then this adds to my former point about acquiring the coins). As far as I understand it anyway they also have unannounced plans for the anniversary.
I've never really gotten to understand how a bad sequel can ruin the games preceding it. I've seen a lot of people say things like this on facepunch, particularly in TOR threads, and I just don't think that even the shittiest game could reduce the merit or enjoyability of any other game. Also, I understand skepticism of a company in certain situations going forward but when has it become common practice to only regard a company by its worst failure, as many do with bioware and TOR, rather than its successes, such as kotor and mass effect? I've never played TOR because I haven't got a Windows machine to play it on, but with my low standards and best-light philosophy I don't see how the game could possibly be bad enough to cause such hatred as people feel towards bioware.
I'm not sure how well the steam version goes with mods but if anyone here decides to play/replay KotOR; check out Brotherhood of Shadow: Solomon's Revenge. It's brilliant, huge and adds hours if not days of quality content to the game. I replayed the whole game just to play the Brotherhood of Shadow storyline and it was worth it without a doubt. Most well-made and immersive mod I have ever played, genuinely felt like a part of the main game.
tor isnt even bad its wow but starwars and questing is made a teeny bit more interesting because of the dialog yeah its not very your choices matter type of dialog but it at least makes you interested in the 10 monkeybutts collection quest that you're about to embark on
This. It's not perfect but it's as good as you'll get in a themepark MMO
I think Rift, WoW, and GW2 do everything SWTOR does but does it better, other than maybe the class story (not questing in general) and crafting. Crafting was pretty neat.
STO is better
