• Motherboard Issue

So I recently upgrade my CPU from a Dual Core to a Core i5, and upgraded my motherboard and RAM along with it. There was one problem though, my new motherboard didn't have a 40-pin connector slot for my DVD Drive. So I put everything together without a DVD Drive. Here's my issue: The computer won't start. I hit the start button and I see an LED light go off on the motherboard, the case fan does a rev up, and the CPU fan turns once, but nothing starts going. I'm wondering if this is because there is no DVD Drive in the computer, or if I fried my motherboard or CPU. Any guesses at what the problem is would be very appreciated. Thanks!
did it ever occur to you that there are different types of DVD drives? you probably have a MoBo that only supports SATA HDDs, thus, rendering your dvd drive useless since there's no way to plug in a Ultra ATA dvd drive into a SATA MoBo. ( there is, but those adapters might bottleneck your performance...)
I know that, I need to buy a SATA DVD Drive. I just really wanted to get on my computer so I tried to turn it on. Is it not booting up because there's no DVD Drive?
it could be one of two things - blown power supply (yours may just not have enough juice to power it) - Faulty motherboard, make sure everything is seated properly and you have missed no connections from the power supply if it is neither of these then you may have to RMA your motherboard
so just to be clear: I should still be able to boot the computer without a DVD Drive, right?
yes - it should come on and post before you get to the os i boot up machines when ive finished assembling the components without a hdd and dvd drive
