What's your worst nightmare? I recently discovered that I have a fear of space thanks to recurring nightmares about it. In my last nightmare I got stranded in that black void of nothingness when I stubbed my toe during a spacewalk and accidentally lost my footing. Scary shit.
I remember a nightmare I had a long time ago that has stuck with me to this day. I usually don't remember dreams in any great detail and forget about them pretty quickly, and I don't typically have nightmares either. For some reason I still remember this nightmare very clearly, and it scared the shit out of me. I was on a train but couldn't remember how I got there. The train was filled with a bunch of kids, really young like 5-7 years old, and I recognized some of them from my own childhood. I was there with a person that I remember being a friend of mine, however I didn't recognize his appearance at all. We walked around the train for a bit trying to make sense of things, and all the kids kept saying weird and cryptic stuff. Eventually we arrived at a big mansion, and it seemed to be in the middle of the night because it was dark. We were walking around in this mansion, and every now and then we would all be called upstairs and be lined up outside a room. A strange man would come out, presumably the owner of the mansion, wearing a dark hat and dark clothes. I couldn't see his face, it was like it was hidden in the shadows. He would take one of the children into the room and we would all go downstairs again. The child would never be heard or seen from again. I realized that we were all being picked off one by one and that me and my friend would inevitably be next. I suggested that we all try and get out of there, and we did. We walked out and ran away from the premises. I was in the lead, and as I kept looking behind me one of the children kept disappearing, and I saw the man right behind us every now and then. His appearance would change, at one point I remember him looking like an old lady, but I knew it was him. Eventually it was just me and my friend, all the children were gone. I told him that we had to stick together, that we couldn't let the other one be taken. As I said that he was gone, taken like the rest. I was terrified, I was running for my life at this point, but eventually I found myself in the room where the rest had been taken. I saw a big glass chamber in front of me, and I saw my friend being taken into the glass chamber. As he entered it, the glass chamber dismembered him, ripping off his body parts and crushing them into tiny bits. The glass chamber was filled with blood and guts which then disappeared. I was next, the man lead me into the chamber and I knew that this was it, this was how I was going to die. At that moment my dad woke me up by entering my room, and I woke up abruptly in a cold sweat screaming. I told him that I had just had the strangest and most terrifying nightmare ever, and it turned out that it was like 2 in the afternoon. So yeah that's pretty much it, to this day I still remember a lot of this nightmare and it's still the worst nightmare I've ever had.
A long time ago when I was down with a fever I had a nightmare that I was shrinking into nothing, and to make it worse there was a trippy field of vision distortion to go with it. Probably just paracetamol though

Failing the exam I just took. It'll fuck up my whole life. It was one of those exams where I literally have no idea how I did. It could be almost top marks or complete failure. Nah but for real my biggest fear is that reincarnation is real and after I die I become reincarnated into every animal I've ever eaten being slaughtered over and over.
Not quite sure if this thread is about dreams or greatest fears now. I'll go with both then. I had this dream quite a while ago where I woke up in a building that looked pretty much like my apartment, was doing something until I started noticing some strange sounds that appeared to be gunshots and police sirens. Ran to a window that had a direct view to the streets and realized this wasn't actually my city because the roads were three-laned and the city looked way more crowded/bigger in general. Anyways, then some officers popped up and one of them opened fire at unarmed civilians right in the middle of the street which got (at least what I could see from my window) one killed. Can't really remember what happened next, only that a buch of these passed by and me being completely horrified and panicking because of how real the dream felt. Guess thats what got me waking up right after that. So by this dream I figured out that having lots of chaos or war even with civilian casualties right in front of my doorstep is most likely my biggest fear. Not saying that war outside the country would be any better, but just the thought about standing hypothetically with one of your legs in your own grave makes me uneasy.
Dying alone
Doesn't matter to me. As long as you're happy, content or in peace with the life you lived, knowing that your "house is in order", then dying alone itself isn't a scary thought at all.
Dying alone
You want someone to be sad when you die? Pfft selfish

The worst nightmares I have had were about nuclear war or other B-NICE scenarios. My worst nightmare in the rhetorical sense would be my dad dying.
If I go blind I will probably kill myself. I don't care if I lose my other senses but I absolutely could not live with being blind.
I fell down the stairs in Tony Montana's mansion from Scarface, then got stabbed in the face by Ghostface from the movie Scream. It was much scarier than it sounds, I assure you.
Missing a flight.
There's this GIF I saw a few years ago where some creature pukes a giant worm into a sleeping girl's mouth. That.
these days it's usually something to do with teeth breaking/falling out
Being stuck in bloody, locked room. Strangely with an eye engraved into one side of the wall, alive. And I was screaming for help. Well. Most of the most fucked up nightmares I had were when I was younger. But I remember that nightmare vividly.
Most of my worst nightmares involve something irreversible happen. The feeling of knowing a cataclysmic event occurred and the world will never be safe again is scary. I've had dreams like this on more realistic scales too though. For example, sometimes I'll commit a crime in my dream and realize the rest of my life will be on the run. These are the kind of nightmares that are often the worst. There is also one I vaguely remember from probably a few weeks ago, a bit before I started keeping a dream journal. I was in what I believed to be a movie theater and a group of people released a chemical preventing the group of us in there from resisting. People were brought off and tortured to death and I knew I would be soon. I think I escaped somehow, but it was still terrifying. [editline]5th March 2016[/editline] Also once had a metal as fuck nightmare. I was walking down a raised highway into a city. Walking the opposite direction was soldiers who clearly had just been in the middle of the shit. I ended up in some Lovecraftian area that seemed somewhat organic. Eventually on my way out I suddenly realized I couldn't walk because some possessed seemingly former human creature had stolen my two legs from me and was using them himself. I stole them back and got the fuck out of there.

More I think about it, Guillermo del Toro doing a "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" movie will be the best/worst thing to happen. You think "Hooray! Del Toro's gonna do a movie based on a scary book series! It's gonna be great!" Then you go "Oh shit. Del Toro's gonna do a 'Scary Stories' movie! It's going to be fucking scary and I don't want to be traumatized for life!" Who wants to see a film where baby spiders crawl out of an open wound on a woman's face as she showers?
Back when I played CSGO more I had dreams where people were trying to kill me for unknown reasons, and although I was armed myself, none of my shots hit anything no matter how accurately I aim and I was always killed.
Car crashes. Really don't want to crash my car because fuck that's my biggest fear nowadays :c also I used to play silent hill a lot as a kid, and everytime I have a nightmare it's usually something involving silent hill, with those foggy ass roads and something lurking in them. wish my brain could find something else to scare me with because silent hill was already scary enough for me, especially the third one.
