Realistic medic system? What does that mean?
I'm guessing pulling your teammate to safety& slowly fixing him.
Realistic medic system? What does that mean?
I imagine it means you actually need a medic if you get shot, lest you bleed-out. No regenerating health or quick health-packs.
Realistic medic system? What does that mean?
you can drag downed players to cover, and also presumably limb damage.
Realistic medic system? What does that mean?
If it's like Project Reality was, you'll have multiple medic items for different situations. Whether to resuscitate or just heal, revive, etc.
That actually sounds really cool. I've never played a game like that (nor the military genre, really), so I didn't know they did stuff like that.
The only "medic" system I was aware of is holding a button down on your teammate in Left 4 Dead or shooting a magical beam of healing in TF2.
I love being the helper of the team!
That map looked eerily similar to helmland province. Looked really good
The Medic system may be Stop Bleeding -> Epinepherine -> Morphine much like ACE's system in Arma was, but I hope it doesn't go that deep. Control bleeding and then reviving is good enough for me

yeah project reality was pretty insane.
I was often the medic in me and my friends squads, I was on my toes all the time during games that would often go on for hours (one time had a game go on for 3 hours)
[editline]8th April 2015[/editline]
that said, fuck being a squad leader or a team leader during a game, would be so tired and stressed by the end of it
im assuming itl be somewhat similar to medic systems in arma, basically you assess the damage and do your best to stop the dude fucking dying, chances are hes still fucked for the rest of the game but its better he be like that than out entirely
It might just be like PR's
everyone has bandages, if your hit you can bandage yourself which stops bleeding out, if its serious you will have to have medic attention by morphine. If you get knocked out by bleeding out then you require defib as well as bandages.
usually if you are killed, you dont spawn on squad mates or team leader, you respawn on the nearest FOB or the spawn point and have to either
wait for entire squad to be killed at the fob or spawn
get a lift by transport to your squad location if it isnt behind enemy lines.
I'd love to see some DLC or mods for this game that brings it back in time similar to the mini mods for PR such as Vietnam and WW2
Those games are so much fun, transport to front lines/squad is a lot longer since your usually only available to wheeled vehicles (or in vietnams case, hueys)
massive action game?
The trailer looked really dull, like, it had nothing special in it
Realistic medic system? What does that mean?
You have to go to college plus internship to play as a medic.

Yeah, its generic US marines VS terrorists in rags in a generic middle east desert setting. Nothing was even happening. They just run a bit, pew pew a bit and that's all.

PR is full out military factions too, so hopefully they have those in it.

I think what will differentiate this from other modern shooters is not a vastly different scope or setting, but the finer details. I mean, if you looked at PR for BF2 vs. any modern shooter and were trying to make a "cool" announcement trailer to gain the most interest, it would probably look about the same, but PR plays vastly differently to just about every modern shooter.

From the greenlight page:
REAL WORLD CURRENT TIME PERIOD FACTIONS, including regular and irregular forces.
Nice and all the 100 players but in reality its either going to be a big deathmatch in the middle of the field or its going to end up like MAG where people just get confused and stop playing.
If you were going to make a 50 vs 50 game, make it a crazy shootfest like Battlefield 2 or Unreal Tournament 2004
It looks interesting, but why would I buy this and not ARMA 3? I didn't see anything new or different that ARMA isn't capable of.

Why...? There's a niche market for a game like this so I don't see an issue with 50v50. How could you possibly get confused? I'm sure the game won't just spawn you alone in a forest for you to find your way out of.

Making it a more generic game would not be a good thing, there would be nothing to set it apart from other games. The large battles aren't really what this is going to be about, it's all the other unique additions that make it interesting. Having it be just like Battlefield or Unreal Tournament where everyone is in the same place would completely miss the point, that's not what it's going for at all. Project Reality and ARMA both require more than just having everyone in one spot and aren't like those at all.

I think looking at the difference between BF3/4 and ARMA 3, there's room in the middle somewhere. Room for a somewhat realistic shooter on a large scale, while not being a game where you need to commit hours at a time to really enjoy.
Compare PR for BF2 and ARMA 2; they are both much more in depth then say BF2, but the degree they push realism is much different. How much PR's realism was simply limited (rather than desired by the developers) by the limitations of BF2 I can't say though.

Usable gun mechanics?
Realistic medic system? What does that mean?
When someone needs healing the medics get a Surgeon Simulator mini game to extract shrapnel and patch the wound.

something like that that isn't wrestling with the controls would actually be pretty neat (although i can imagine it would get old pretty fast)

Those modes in Arma aren't super accessible. You generally have to find a group that plays it and most aren't PVP.
[editline]8th April 2015[/editline]
and it's the arma engine
as far as large fps goes i think mag beats this although this is the first i ever heard of this it might be a worth looking into

Go play Project Reality, and try and get on their larger 128 player test servers. A good infantry squad in PR was one of the most gratifying FPS experiences I've ever had. Shit's intense

you basically had to do this to play project reality.
If you play Arma 3 with the Facepunch group, we have a realistic medic mod. It's really fun.

will do and only reason i brought mag up was the maximum was 250 players total so the battlefield was immense and the battles were rough so i hope its the same for this game
Isn't someone from Facepunch working on this?
