I love how all the articles and public opinion on this game was positive for a while- and then they take out pools and suddenly this is the most egregious insult in gaming.
I love how all the articles and public opinion on this game was positive for a while- and then they take out pools and suddenly this is the most egregious insult in gaming.
Well pools have always been in the games. They will probably implement then in a expansion and make people more furious (Why the fuck do people work themselves up over games)
Well pools have always been in the games. They will probably implement then in a expansion and make people more furious (Why the fuck do people work themselves up over games)
They've added things in expansions and added them to the base game for free via patch at the same time in the past. Everyone bitched about Sims 3 not having diving boards, waterslides, hot tubs, and all got added for free later on. And things like basement tools, owning multiple properties, or hell fucking breast sliders were all added in expansions and released for free via patch to the base game. In fact, here:
Game Update 1.5/1.6 on 11/16/09 introduced several features from World Adventures such as the new basement tool that allows players to build basements up to 4 levels deep under a lot, new Pagoda style roofs, and the ability to place decorations on roofs. It also added the ability to customize stairs, fences, and gates with textures, as well as being saved and shared with others and a ‘Sell All’ option for a family’s inventory. Game Update 1.8/2.3 on 12/15/09 added the In-Game Store Browser allowing players to access store content through buy mode. A free patch for The Sims 3 was released around the same time as Ambitions. It introduced the tattoo feature in Create-A-Sim from Ambitions although with a smaller number of available tattoos. It also introduced new Build Mode features such as the ability to make certain columns multi-storeyed and allows players to adjust the pitch of the roof. Players also have greater control over editing their towns. A free patch for The Sims 3 was released around the same time as Fast Lane Stuff. It introduced the Vehicle Enthusiast trait which was originally shipped with that game. A free patch for The Sims 3 was released around the same time as Late Night. It introduced three new features to Create-A-Sim from Late Night, the muscle definition, breast sliders (teen females and older only) and the return of astrological signs. It also allowed players to choose their own Lifetime Wish rather than having to choose one of five predetermined ones based on the traits chosen. Build Mode added the ability to build stages, fountains with spurts, half-walls, make curved swimming pools with curves being adjustable in size and gave players the ability to move wall hangings, photographs and paintings up and down walls. Urinals were also made available in Buy Mode. A free patch for The Sims 3 was released around the same time as Generations. It introduced the ability to apply body hair to Sims (male teens and older only), the memory system, dating, and the ability to adjust lifespan and individual age lifespans through the options memory. A free patch for The Sims 3 was released around the same time as Showtime. It introduced the Simport feature from Showtime. The patch also allowed players to choose two new outfits per outfit category including Career Outfits once a career is chosen for a Sim. A free patch for The Sims 3 was released around the same time as Supernatural. It introduced population controls to the Options Menu with the ability to control the appearance of Celebrities and Vampires from Late Night, stray pets and wild horses from Pets, as well as Werewolves, Witches, and Fairies in Supernatural. It added new decorative objects to Build and Buy Mode such as drainpipes, wall patterns, roof cornices, a bookcase, and neighborhood rock objects in Edit Town. Create-A-Sim also gained 6 new skin tones and 5 new Looks sliders (Ear Orbit, Ear Point, Jaw Underbite, Brow Definition, Nostril Rotate). Fangs and bite marks could also be applied to Sims in the Accessories tab. Online gift giving was also introduced and implemented within gameplay. A free patch for The Sims 3 was released around the same time as Seasons. It added many new features such as the ability for Sims to swim in oceans and rivers, an attraction system and the ability to take greeting card photos. Build Mode featured the return of diving boards to the swimming pool section and a new Blueprint Mode was added allowing players to quickly drop down and build customizable premade rooms together. In Create-A-Sim, an alien skin tone was added, the ability to create Alien Eyes and Alien Ears in the Looks section and the option to make Sims fully bald and have no eyebrows.
So fucking greedy, how dare they not give me free stuff ;~;
Just wait until somebody makes the lamps into a separate mod.

Creating a sim requires the head.eyes, mouth, body and legs dlc.
But the game is still in development, why not put them in beforehand rather than wait?
NO. I COMMAND EA to release The Sims 4 as an Early Access game so I can complain about it not being complete.
so they're adding functional trophies, not restricting a lighting function why is this a problem
i hope maxis goes out of business
i hope maxis goes out of business
Ain't happening. The Sims is one of EA's most popular brands.
this particular thing isn't bad. Kinda cool to do something like that in-game for longtime fans. This doesn't make up for the terrible business model though
this particular thing isn't bad. Kinda cool to do something like that in-game for longtime fans. This doesn't make up for the terrible business model though
Yeah, such a terrible business model that they've been doing it since the Sims 1.
I was referring to the new ea business model of extracting already present features and later adding them in as paid dlc, which we can all say is pretty safe to assume. If it doesn't happen feel free to quote me and laugh but I mean come the fuck on.
A shame that the gaming industry has gotten to the point where when a company makes an extra for owning the previous incarnation, its automatically seen as holding content for ransom. Extra Lamps seem like a nice thing though. I mean, its The Sims. Its not like you'd get a mission to infiltrate Mortimer Goth's secret murder lair( [sp].......I always play The Sims and The Sims 2 with the mindset that Mortimer Goth is really a serial killer and the "family" graves along the Goth household are really his victims.[/sp] ) or something like that in a non console The Sims.

They are staple elements of the game, ESPECIALLY toddlers for fucks sake. EA has changed a lot between sims 3 release and now - pools wont be a free addon as they should be, and they wont be on release as they definitely should be.

And as far as I know, nobody actually liked the toddler stage. It was boring and all it did was make you take one of your Sims away from everything else they had to do in their day to grind out the teach to walk/talk/poop in a toilet stuff. Things like diving boards and hot tubs were in since the first games, and they weren't in the base Sims 3, until it got added for free in a patch coinciding with the launch of the expansion pack containing those items. And the whole EA changing thing is silly considering you're saying they'd have never have done that stuff with how much they've changed since Sims 3's release 5 years ago, glazing over the fact that they've provided plenty of new free content for the base game up until just last year. Saying pools will paid DLC is baseless "EA is the Antichrist" paranoia, saying they'll never provide free content for the base game is pointlessly cynical, and saying pools are a major component of the the foundation of a good Sims game is just more out-of-proportion bullshit.
I guarantee pools will be released as a FREE update to accompany the release of an expansion pack. You guys claiming they'll release pools as paid dlc is absurd and bias
I wonder how much doors are gonna cost.
I wonder how much doors are gonna cost.
stop
i hope maxis goes out of business
For giving some random junk to people that bought their games?
But the game is still in development, why not put them in beforehand rather than wait?
Because that takes development time away from other features or pushes the release date back.
But the game is still in development, why not put them in beforehand rather than wait?
Because they have a deadline set by their publisher and have to make a call - "Should we put in things that have been in every Sims game before it. Or, should we add new features/flesh out existing features in a way that will be brand new additions to this iteration". The sad thing is, ff they only had the same stuff as previous games, people would complain that it's the same thing every time and they don't even bother adding new content. Now they're adding new things, and people are complaining that they want the same. There's literally no winning here for them.
stop
Grr stop making jokes.
I guarantee pools will be released as a FREE update to accompany the release of an expansion pack. You guys claiming they'll release pools as paid dlc is absurd and bias
Well it's apparantly fun to shit on EA. Because EA is a bunch of demon worshiping hags! How else could you explain the dark magiks that is Mass Effect 3?!
Yeah, such a terrible business model that they've been doing it since the Sims 1.
yeah sims has always had a terrible business model this does not excuse them
I love how all the articles and public opinion on this game was positive for a while- and then they take out pools and suddenly this is the most egregious insult in gaming.
I'm more upset about the lack of the open no-loading-screen-in-between-neighborhoods gameplay we wont be getting. It's a step down from Sims 3, and Sims 2 just isn't very enjoyable to me after playing it. While it's a step up from 2, it's a step down from 3.
I love how all the articles and public opinion on this game was positive for a while- and then they take out pools and suddenly this is the most egregious insult in gaming.
surely its not because this is a dumb lazy reward!!!
I was not aware that additions were regularly added to Sims 3 via free patches. If this is the case with things in Sims 4, I'll be more okay with it. I'm still confused why they need to decide "yeah, we're removing them" now to re-add later, but if it's added for free, I can deal with that. I'm still annoyed at the general expansion business model, but that's just the nature of the Sims beast, by now.
