• Question about PCI x16 slots

So here's a dumb question >< How come I have 2 PCI x16 slots on my motherboard. They're for dual video cards right? And I assume I can't stick 2 different video cards in there right? They have to be the same and SLI'd?
They have to be the same type of chip, and you'd need an SLi bridge and a suitable power supply.

8800gt and 8800gt if you combine a 1gb and a 512 the 1gb will be brought down to 512mb.
depending on the motherboard you might be able to do SLi, Crossfire or both
