Mumble often disconnects, when it does, it brings down my ENTIRE internet with it

I lose my connection for like 10 seconds I dunno I don't time it, the notification area in Windows doesn't even have a chance to get the exclamation mark that shows you have no internet connection
I never experience this except when mumble is active, and it seems to affect other people on my network (laptop, wifi on smartphone, etc) So if I have been using my PC all day but haven't used mumble, no issues, when I use mumble, after minutes of use, I will hear the mumble server disconnect sound and steam will say there is no connection, and websites won't load (or load really slowly). My connection does come back but well this makes mumble effectively useless since you will be disconnected from your PC game, and that sucks in a MOBA where leaving counts as a leave in your W/L ratio and your team now has a person down
This problem started to occur like almost a month ago, before then I never had issues. My ISP is Cox Communications and yes I tried resetting and power cycling my modem (Motorola SB5101) and router (D-Link DIR-655 Rev1). I am using a wired connection (ethernet)
Does anything happen if you stress test it some how? I would assume download isn't the issue, so try uploading instead. (Sorry, don't know any way to do it besides FTP or something).
well I disabled my router firewall, since I've been told it doesn't do anything useful, I think this solved it I dunno
What router do you have? You shouldn't have to disable the firewall. Security problems you know.
that's what you get for using FOSS
