I wouldn't get a sound card unless you somehow need it. For example if you're getting some nice 5.1 or 7.1 speakers and the onboard doesn't support it or just isn't cutting it in some way. Hard disks are always useful but then again it depends if you feel you need it or not. What are the rest of the specs on the computer?
buy me pokemon heart gold

what keyboard/mouse do you have
Hard drives are always useful.
How much RAM do you have? and what type?
I have that sound blaster OP, i really like it!
post all of your current system specs
Why all, RAM is really the only component besides a HDD or DVD drive he could get for 80 dollars
new case is a possibility
if his current GPU is utter shite you could do wonders for that much
heh, itd have to be integrated to be able to get something better for 80 dollars
he could have intel integrated for all we know, that's my point

Same brand Corsair XMS2
If you are a complete audiophile then get the soundcard. If you aren't and you HAVE to buy something, then get a a hard drive. I personally would just save it.
I might as well get the sound card, will it be better then the realtek integrated sound?
save up 10 more bucks and get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820139162, just for boot drive

not unless you are a huge audiophile and then you need to make sure your speakers are good enough to utilize the sound card

That's $90 :P
That's $90 :P
I am sure you could scrape together $10 more. An SSD will really give you a huge performance improvement as well, one that will be of much better worth than a sound card.
Pre order Just Cause 2, your computer doesn't really need anything.

I disagree, Creatives recent card suck, mostly because of how bad the drivers are.
I recommend getting a pair of nice stereo headphones. The JVC-HARX900 are supposed to be very comfortable and have nice sound quality. They have some serious bang for the buck.
For 20 more.

That poorly optimized POS?
That poorly optimized POS?
It is far from poorly optimized. It runs on high settings (Not highest) on my 2.9 GHz Intel E7500, 4 GB DDR2 and an ATI Radeon HD 4770, his computer will have no problem with the game. The demo is fun as hell :D
I got the creative X-fi card, I hope its good. :D

What speakers do you have? If you just have some off-brand stereo speakers a new sound card isn't going to do much.
