I feel kinda lame asking this here, especially after searching and not really understanding anything, but I need some help.
My situation is pretty simple: I bought a laptop last week, and wish to transfer my music from one of my hard drives in my main PC onto it, and have heard that this is possible via networking. The current layout is as follows:
Internet>Router>Switch>PC and laptop in my room
Can someone explain how I set it up on both computers so that I can copy the music folder from my PC to my laptop? My main PC is running Vista HP x64 and my laptop is running 7 HP x64. Both have one user each and passwords for the two accounts.
Keep in mind that I only need to transfer a folder. I don't need to do anything with settings/user accounts/etc.
On your PC, right click on the music folder, go to properties, then the sharing tab.

Then on your laptop, right click on Computer and select "Map Network Drive"

Awesome, thanks a lot.
A little snag came up. When I go to Map Network Drive on my laptop and type in the \\pc name\folder, it states that it cannot access it. It gives me an error code 0x80070035: the network path wasn't found.
I'm still doing it through the switch, is that a problem?

Home Premium 7 doesn't include the feature.
