• Internet connection problem - Computer is lying to me

After unplugging the downstairs computer, box thing the connects it to the internet and the wireless router then plugging the wireless router and the box thing back in, I got internet connection to my PC upstairs while when the downstairs computer was plugged back into the box thing is only got " limited or no connectivity". In an effort to fix this problem my stepdad did... something which made it work. At the same time, my upstairs computer wouldn't let me log on to Windows XP. After fixing THAT problem my internet doesn't work. It says it's connected but no websites load. Also, my Wii can't load any pages. What do I do to fix this? [editline]22nd December 2010[/editline] Sorry for the poor explanation, and tell me if I missed anything.
Define "Box thing" please
I think it's a modem.
I think it's a modem.
Perhaps reading up on how these things work would help you understand. For now, we have no clue what the hell you are on about because in summary, all we know is: -You have a box thing (a hunch suggests its a modem) -You are connected to a router which is also connected to said box thing -Had some unrelated issues with logging in to XP -You have a Wii Seriously, come back with more info on how this is set up and what exactly the problem is Or, get your stepdad to do "something which made it work" again

I have a working internet connection but downstairs it has "Limited or no connectivity". When we try to repair the connection is says that it can't renew the IP address. What's wrong and how do I fix it?

Try repairing the connection first If that fails, restart the router (and modem) If that fails, try re-installing your network drivers (this is similar to what happened to me, and this last step worked) If you need help on how to do this, just ask
