• Direct Ethernet cable connection from Win7 to XP issues

Hey there FPers, so thing is I want to connect a old Bangho desktop with XP to my laptop which runs... you guessed it, 7. How can I get the Bangho to access my Public documents on the laptop through a direct Ethernet connection? This would mean a Age of Empires II match with my cousin tonight.
Is using a cross-over ethernet cable out of the question?
You need a crossover cable. You can buy them, or if you know what you're doing with the wire order and a crimper, you can modify a standard ethernet cable. Yea, pretty much all modern NICs are auto-sensing. Just set a static IP on both machines and connect to them via smb.
