Searching something that is small and can transmit audio in some way to my headphones

I'm starting to get really annoyed by the cables I have at my table and want to make it less of a mess by plugging something into the 3.5mm plug from my headphones and my speakers headphone out. Is there a name for such device so I can search and buy it easier?
So... just bluetooth/wifi headset? There's tons of them on the market. I wouldn't recommend, though. Their sound is shit compared to a pair of good headphones.
You would get a considerable delay in order to get good quality sound.
I suggest using wireless keyboard or mouse instead to get rid of cables.

I don't need the headphones, only the wireless stuff itself. With my headphones I can easily remove the cable and plug pretty much anything in it.

Keyboard and mouse is not part of the problem because it's all behind the table.

That sucks, sounds like I have another diy project on my list.
You could try to organize the table better, what's it look like?

the dongles would be so big there'd really be no reason not to just use a cable

I wouldn't care. All I want is to move around my room without getting the cable in the way.
A cable
anyways wireless transmission of audio falls under fcc regulations
slapping together something when you have no idea what you're doing is a very bad idea when working with wireless signals
I'm still searching an thinking. Maybe I'll find some used and not too expensive wireless headphones and take them appart but only if they don't sound good of course.
