I'm now convinced that MGS is going down the shitter.
I'm sorry, but a MGS game without Kojima isn't a MGS game to begin with. Nobody can recreate his touch.
It most likely wont be a 'solid' series though. They never say a new Metal Gear Solid series anyway.
They act like we want another Metal Gear. 5 should be the last one.
i'm sure you will konami
god knows you've got fuckall else
I can see it now: Metal Gear Sturdy: Snake's Re-Revenge.
You know, seeing as the last time Metal Gear was "finished", we got Snake's Revenge, aka an attempt at an original Metal Gear without Kojima?
The way I see it, Kojima is done making Metal Gear games, and Konami doesn't want to fund a Kojima Productions that isn't working on a new Metal Gear game. So based on those principles, the two are parting ways. Konami keeps the franchise, and Kojima is free to make whatever he wants.
This is all fine and dandy, but here's my concerns:
Konami making changes to MGSV now that Kojima Productions is considered contract workers.
Konami mishandling the franchise and turning it to utter shit (if that happens, whatever fuck them)
Other than that, I'm excited to the the two part ways. I hope Kojima is able to find a new better home for him and his team.
As long as Phantom Pain remains a true KojiPro creation with no more input from Konami than there would normally be.
What I wonder is how much are they going to censor his name and the references to himself if they ever re-release a Metal Gear Solid game?

I do want another one
just not without Kojima because it will then be shit.
Konami if this is your idea of "Damage Control", let me know that you're doing it wrong.
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. This is the first thing I was PRAYING wouldn't happen the second I heard the news about Kojima.
God damn, this sucks. Why do so many good games and companies end up like this?
oh no
OH NO
No, as a huge fan of the series, I want 5 to be the last one. The Series went full circle. 5 will probably end where 1 started. The story is complete from past to present.
Even if Konami only wants to make remakes or spinoffs, I don't feel good about Konami doing their thing.
i know kojima has wanted to leave the series behind for a while now, this doesn't seem that foreign a concept to me. i mean it's clear that konami don't care at all about it as anything other than a marketing tool, but if some kind soul gets put in charge it might not be too bad. it's really all up to whether they'll accidentally give control to someone who actually knows what they're doing
Well, guess Metal Gear went out with a bang, having V as the best MGS game ever.
Let the series to rest Konami.
Give us more proper Castlevania games, or contra, or Goemon.
Or a Hudson IP seeing your big fat assess absorbed Hudson.
I think this is a rare occasion where hard core fans don't want another entry.
this is like the exact opposite of what i wanted after hearing yesterdays bad news
i am more excited to see what kojima does next than i ever will be for a non-kojima metal gear game (sans more MGR, which i could totally go for even if kojima isn't any part of it)
But at what cost Konami
Like releasing a new game would ruin whole franchise. Pff, if you don't want to play Metal Gear that is not made by Kojima just ignore the next releases. I say let them give it a shot.

Releasing a new game as part of a franchise known for being pretty amazing and not releasing shitty games would indeed ruin the reputation of the franchise if the new game was a load of ass. Metal Gear is the way it is because Kojima is incredibly strange. He is not the only person responsible for the games, but he's definitely their greatest influence.
They can release a new game without Kojima, but they won't be having the swathe of preorders and faith that they're used to.
Kimmy Jimbles has been pushing for the series to continue without him for a long time. This is what he wanted all along really, except without the split from Konami.

Well i loved Castlevania Lords of Shadows, both of them. Just because a game it's not like it used to be doesn't mean it's necessarily bad.

Yeah, but it means you should've used a different fucking IP.
There's a reason people got pissed off over Saints Row IV.
The most I'd want is an MGR sequel and a remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2. I wouldn't want anything else without Kojima. Hell, it'd even be hard to remake the MSX games without him, the writing styles would be too different.
I was expecting MGSV to be Kojima's last entry in the series and overall the last 'main' addition to the series, so I've got something of a bad feeling about this. Say, does the FOX Engine belong to Konami or will Kojima be able to use it at all in any future titles?
