You can clearly see the new Retina display in all its glory. Compare the left (invitation) to the right (the iPad 2). The top has a lot more definition. It's clear on the typography in the Wednesday, the spacing in relation to the icon and the edges of the icon itself. Not only that, but there seems to be NO home button, which explains the mention of the "And touch." in their invitation. How can we know? First, the photo they are showing is on portrait mode. You can't achieve that icon spacing in the landscape mode (which is the only explanation for the lack of home button). Moreover, the icon falls right onto the same water drop that the current iPad 2 falls while in portrait mode. The same happens with the reflection on the dock. And, on top of that, it's impossible to get the same icon spacing in landscape mode. Clearly, Apple's invitation is showing a photo of the iPad in portrait mode. And there's no button to be seen. Unless they turned it upside down, of course. By why would Apple do that? Perhaps to tease us, but it really doesn't make much sense. Or maybe the whole thing is a lie, lie, LIE! Remember, nothing is real until Apple unveils it. I have to confess that I like the idea of them keeping a physical home button—despite my iPhone 4's button failing more than I would like. But simple is beautiful, as Jobs and Ive would say.[/QUOTE] from the picture it certainly looks like the ipad is in portrait mode as seen by the position of the raindrops and the spacing of the icons. it also seems like a higher resolution screen. And the seemly lack of the home button. We'll find out on March 7th! [QUOTE=Gizmodo][IMG]http://i41.tinypic.com/35cg9xc.jpg[/IMG][/QUOTE] The ipad 3 is expected to have a retina screen (2048×1536) , quad core processor.
This is bullshit, Apple does this in all promotional photos, even without retina. Though it doesn't mean that they can't introduce a retina iPad.
Huh? Apple never zooms in so close you can see the pixels on an advert. Yeah when they're doing adverts about FaceTime the camera's being used are professional ones, but it seems like apple has done this on purporse to show that it is using a retina display
I mean that you NEVER see pixels on Apple's promotional photos. Their ads always have "screen images simulated" and etc. But I only called bullshit on the overanalyzing part though.
Most companies do that since if you take a picture or video of a screen, sometimes you get really odd effects. Either way, I can't imagine what more they could do with the iPad apart from increase the speed/graphics/camera and make it thinner
I wouldn't get too excited, Gawker websites have went down the pooper in the last two years or so. Ever since they got a hold of that iPhone 4
[QUOTE=marcus5;34919924] The ipad 3 is expected to have a retina screen (2048×1536) , quad core processor.[/QUOTE] That's nice and all - but it just feels so excessive. I mean on that tiny display? That resolution is what the iMac displays are packing, and those things are huge! And my poor laptops 1366×768 already felt outdated. Now tablets of all things are going to outrun it? My wallet just isn't fit for these situations.

Otherwise having to scale Apps could be messy. Personally I think the iPad screen is high enough resolution anyway, but there you go.
I don't really think there's much more to do on the hardware side of things now. Sure, you can make it a bit faster, higher quality and add some new chips such as NFC or connection standards, but I think It'll be more about software and connectivity to the cloud from here on out.
Quad core? That must be like, 4 times the processing power!
So what time does this start today?
Engadget shows what time it is for you [url]http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/06/apple-ipad-3-ipad-hd-launch-liveblog/[/url] 7:00 PM for GMT+1
I'm going to be following this [url="http://live.theverge.com/Event/Live_from_Apples_iPad_3_event_in_San_Francisco"]here[/url], their WWDC keynote coverage was great.

[img]http://images.apple.com/r/store/backsoon/title_backsoon1.gif[/img] [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] Wow the new lowtide is fugly. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] I'm convinced the fluff/content ratio of these 'notes are slowly increasing as well. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] ScribbleLive is gone. There goes The Verge and Ars.

A5X? 9to5's saying it punches above its weight, but what the hey. I suppose now everyone's going to start saying they're saving it for the iTV. What's with "The new iPad"? And will there be a One More Thing? [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] Oh dear, two more configs? That'll sock the unlockers in the balls one.
I expected it to be more expensive than $499 to be honest. Isn't that what the iPad 2 sold for?
Pah. And I was waiting for senseg. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] Welp, it looks like that's It.
And I almost bought a Galaxy Tab a couple of weeks ago for almost the same price. Specs on iPad 3 own.
Glad Infinity Blade's lost its rails, though. See how it'll stack up to its other contemporaries in the dynamic-dungeon scene.
So I guess this confirms that the iPhone 5 will have LTE
Goddamnit I'll have to wait for the livestream to see the new apps. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] olol. It's Randy Ubillos. Let's all chuck custard pies at him.
yup apple have done it again, taken features from a successful app store app and copied it. In this case, Camera+ has basically been given a new UI in iPhoto.
I'm gonna buy it asap! OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG SO COOOOOOOOOL
Phil Schiller doing One More Thing? [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] And why aren't you calling it an iPad 3. Geez. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] Ah - you'll have to wait. Cue obligatory Steve Wouldn't Have Done That comment.
The new iPad What the hell are they going to say next year. Back to calling Apple stuff by the generations.
Not having Siri seems a bit weird, especially when they've got voice dictation.
What's with the new color logo, anyhoo? I wish someone would cook up a crackpot theory involving that, "the new iPad", and the rest of 2012. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] Well, that's it. Odd indeed. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline] Store's still down, though.

Keep in mind that green is at the top and purple and blue at the bottom, like with the original rainbow apple. Also Retina Display icon.
