And not a single thing will change. You can't kill Silk Road, even if you kill it's physical form, it will be reborn in another form not long after. They're just making an example of him to scare everyone that wants to continue running these deep web marketplaces.
I thought he didn't allow murder-for-hire?

Silk Road was a safe way to get drugs. Now everyone that used Silk Road will have to find a local drug dealer. In short, local organizations will get stronger and local crime rates will rise.
I mean, a website that sells all kinds of drugs and delivers them by mail isn't right, but i don't see how its downfall helps anyone. It's a shot to the foot.

The site might not have allowed it, but he was a big proponent of it.

Coca Cola management have hired assassins to kill trade leaders in south america to allow further exploitation of their work force.
US government has hired assassins to kill to politicans in south america to protect companies there from policies which would benefit the people at the expense of american companies.

I think I read somewhere that he was being blackmailed, which is why he got involved with the killers.
If I was in his position I would have no gripes about resorting to that to get rid of someone blackmailing me. Consider his choices pay the blackmails or get handed in and spend rest of his life in prison.

the idea of people getting shot over fizzy drinks is simply amazing, billion-dollar enterprise or not, if that's true we should just send this constant transmission out around our planet that decodes into a drawing of a little stick figure dude holding a gun with a bottle of cola in front of him, shooting this other little stick figure in the face, just to basically sum everything on Earth up for passing alien life
still, sources?
