I built this arcade thingy, Its basically a computer inside an arcade control panel(with all the buttons and junk).
So it is a box with a bunch of buttons on top, which plugs into a tv.
Currently I have a laptop in it, with svideo output, and its really crap, half the time it gives me errors and i have to reboot.
But recently I have been given a dell inspiron 2400, at least I think it is. And i want to see if i can cram that thing in there instead.
Now I need a video card for it and it has to be s-video, low profile, pci and cheap.
I have 3 cards I've been looking at:
1. SPARKLE GeForce 8400 GS

2. JATON GeForce2 MX400 64MB

3. DIAMOND Stealth Radeon 7000 64MB

I'd like to be able to play up to playstation 1 emulated games on this.
Now I believe the 8400 is the best bet, but can a stock psu from a dell 2400 support it?
Also feel free tho throw in any opinions/objections, thanks!
get 8400gs
8400gs, but get the a different one, sparkle is a shit brand. There is a PNY 512 MB one for just a few bucks more.
4350
I opened the computer up and the psu is;
200 watts
+12V/10A
+5V/22A
+3.3V/14A
Anyone know if this thing has enough juice for an 8400?
-snip-
Pny card had no s video ;/
Buy the most costly card out right now.
That will run pac-man just fine.

Some games require better graphics cards, mortal combat and a bunch of others require something more. Also I need s video to output to a tv. And I could run other things that use a 4-way joy and 6 buttons.
Please contribute or gtfo please.

if you need the s video then I suppose the sparkle is fine.
Anyway, I've got an 8400 GS in a system with a 250w PSU.
An 8400GS uses about 30 watts at full load. Add the CPU, hard drives, etc. I'd say full load would be no more about 150w.
Alright, thanks buttsex, I knew i could always count on you.
Edit:
I was searching ebay to see if i could find it cheaper and i found this thing:

It seems too easy, but what is stopping me from putting one of those on the onboard and using that?
Unless you have HD3200 or HD4200 as your onboard, then you'd get MUCH better performance with a dedicated card.

8400 GS? I have it, never heard of "SPARKLE" but mine sucks balls, can't even run CS:S on the lowest settings without lag.
But don't take advice from me, I don't know anything about hardware, or what this SPARKLE means.
Well, if you were going to play pac-man on it then I suppose its fine.

Sparkle is the manufacturer. Like PNY, ASUS.
My father build an arcade machine. I think he used a Geforce 7800 if I remember correctly.

There is also the 3300 and yeah they are very good integrated. I was able to max source games on my 3300.

The video card has to support it, which I doubt it does.
