I'm interested in buying a new cpu and after looking at some of the threads on here it seems like people are mostly recommending Intel cpus.
The problem is my motherboard has an AM3 socket type.
Here are my specs:

So my question is this: Would it be better if I bought a new AMD cpu or should I shell out more cash and get a new mobo + Intel cpu
I'm looking to spend around $200-$300 for just the cpu but I'm willing to go up to $400 if I need to get a new mobo as well.
Also I'm living in the US and usually buy from Newegg but I'll buy from another source if there's a better deal.
Thanks in advance

The FX series is all am3+. Any chip you could put in there honestly wouldn't be worth it. I'd say get a new CPU/mobo.

Devil's canyon, good OCer, and solid board
^ Just had my friend get that exact combo coming from a Phenom II x4 and he loves it.
Yeah, ditch it for a smart Intel CPU + Mobo combo. I think TheDestroyerOfall's recommendation will do you wonders.
Okay, I'll go with Destroyer's recommendation. Thanks for the help guys.
